Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Quote of the day, “Why conservatives should support the debt deal” edition

OK, this is just plain surreal.

The single best reason I’ve heard so far as to why I should support the debt deal was presented by…Dick Durbin?

The Republicans are killing Keynesian economics with their attempt to cut spending as the economy rebounds from a recession (uh…”rebounds”?  Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Durbin the Turban? – CL), Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said in a floor speech on Sunday.

“I would say … that symbolically, that agreement is moving us to the point where we are having the final interment of John Maynard Keynes,” he said, referring to the British economist. “He normally died in 1946 but it appears we are going to put him to his final rest with this agreement.”

Well, wouldn’t that be a friggin’ boo-hoo-fest?  I mean, Keynesian economics has been widly successful thus far, hasn’t it?  (For those of you on the left, the prior question was rhetorical, but in case you actually need an answer: No, it’s been a massive clusterfark of a failure!)
