I heard him give his answer to that action on the radio..it was interesting, I admit. HE said it was solely for the concern about Sphincter’s position to support Supreme Court nominees that then-pres G W would nominate. He knew AS was not a true friend, but he says the guy was committed to supporting any nominee the president would have brought forth. He said his concern was for the immediate “priority” of keeping a liberal nominee out of the Sup Court.
He knew he would take heat, he said, but he felt that convicted about protecting the nominations at the time…now don’t confuse this for me making excuses, because I so am TOTALLY not….just relaying a statement he made.

I’m not as concerned with his support for Arlen as much as I’m surprised for his support of “earmarks”!
