The latest chapter from the junk science fad known as global “warming”, from Canuckistan:
It’s Saturday night, and you want to catch the latest summer blockbuster. You do a quick Google search to find the venue and right time, and off you go to enjoy some mindless fun.
Meanwhile, your Internet search has just helped kill the planet. Depending on how long you took and what sites you visited, your search caused the emission of one to 10 grams of carbon into the atmosphere, contributing to global warming.
Sure, it’s not a lot on its own — but add up all of the more than one billion daily Google searches, throw in 60 million Facebook status updates each day, 50 million daily tweets and 250 billion emails per day, and you’re making a serious dent in some Greenland glaciers.
Exit question: Since Al Gore supposedly invented the Internet, isn’t it ironic that his invention is sautéing the planet while he crusades against global “warming”?
Obama wagging his finger, scolding Candian Prime Minister Stephen Harper at the nuke timewaster:
Obama assuming the position we’re accustomed to seeing him assume, this time with Hu Jintao of China:
I should cut him some slack, though. After all, I have to kiss up to my boss who signs my paychecks that keep my stuff paid for, so doesn’t it make sense that B.O. prostrate himself before the leader of the country whose money is keeping us afloat? For those of you on the left, the prior sentence was sarcasm.
Dick Morris is right: Obowdown simply hates the country that elected him.
I’ve obviously been out of the loop the last several days, but I’ve had a little time to get caught up today. To recap:
Snitch Central has been closed down. Who knew that America would resent Chicago-style Orwellian thuggery?
Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R-MN) with the quote of the day: “It appears that President Obama is making great progress on climate change, he is changing the political climate in the country back to Republican”
Canuck doctors: Hey, you know what? Our universal health care system sucks!
Alleged “Blue Dog” Eric Massa (D-NY) comes out of the closet as a proponent of single-payer socialized medicine, and he says he doesn’t care if he gets tossed out of office in his Republican-heavy district for it. Takeaway quote: “I will vote adamantly against the interests of my district if I actually think what I am doing is going to be helpful.” Translation: I am Pelosi’s lapdog before I am an advocate for my constituents.
Obama says now that a “public option” isn’t necessary for health care reform. Question: trial balloon or white flag? I’m leaning towards the former. Anywho, Peloco says the “public option” is staying in the House bill, while Kent Conrad (D-ND) says it doesn’t matter if it’s in the House bill because the “wasted effort“ will never be in the Senate bill.
When he’s not busy trashing our soldiers as Stalins or Pol Pots, Dick Durbin the Turban likes to spend his time refusing to meet with constituents (which he described as “not productive”) while instead meeting with health care lobbyists (which he described as very productive).
After stealing the MN Senate seat from the real winner Norm Coleman, MN moonbat Al Franken discovers that doggone it, people don’t like him.
This is a follow-up to last week’s story about how Carleton University cancelled a cystic fibrosis fundraiser because the victims of C.F. are all white. Apparently, even Canuckistan is capable of some common sense every once in a blue moon. Details:
Following vocal protests from students, the Carleton University Students Association voted unanimously Monday night to:
* Support next year’s cystic fibrosis fundraiser, called Shinerama.
* Donate at least $1,000 to the organization.
* Issue a formal apology.
In addition, the student councillor who crafted the controversial motion to drop the fundraiser resigned…
Meanwhile, a group on campus has submitted a petition signed by 1,000 students calling for the student association president, Brittany Smyth, to be impeached over the incident, which they are calling “Shinerama-gate.”
While it never should have come to this, I do have to give the Canucks credit for dealing with this in such a forthright manner. Hopefully, their impressionable young minds learned a lesson about the toxic nature of political correctness and how it’s nothing more than an obstacle to compassion.
Why would they do that? Because according to the Canucks at this school of “higher” learning, the victims of cystic fibrosis are all a bit too caucasian for their liking. Details from Canuckistan:
The Carleton University Students’ Association has voted to drop cystic fibrosis as the beneficiary of its annual Shinearama fundraiser, arguing that the illness is not “inclusive” enough.
Cystic fibrosis “has been recently revealed to only affect white people, and primarily men” said the motion read to student councillors, who voted almost unanimously in favour of it.
Carleton students have fanned out across the city near the beginning of the school year to raise money to fight the illness for years. But according to the motion read Monday night to student councillors, “all orientees and volunteers should feel like their fundraising efforts will serve the their (sic) diverse communities.”
Mr. Bergamini said the orientation week fundraiser, which is carried out by students at many universities across Canada, raised about $1-million last year. Shinearama has raised money for cystic fibrosis research for more than 25 years.
“I think they see this, in their own twisted way, as a win for diversity,” said Mr. Bergamini. “I see it as a loss for people with cystic fibrosis.”
Meanwhile, he said the vote was an example of political correctness gone too far in student government. (Ya think??? – Ed.)
The fact that C.F. does NOT kill only white people notwithstanding, what kind of depravity must one suffer from to where skin color of the victims of a heinous disease ever enters the thought process? How would you sick Canucks like to stand in front of God Almighty on the day of your judgment and tell Him that you would have been glad to aid His children suffering from C.F. if only He had given them greater pigmentation?
Hey, let’s take this a step further, shall we? How about not holding any fundraisers for breast cancer, since over 99% of the victims are female? I mean, that’s not “inclusive”, now is it? Or what about sickle cell anemia, since that primarily affects the black community? The possibilities are endless!
And liberals think that we need to emulate the Canucks? No thanks!
How abso-freaking-lutely awful would that be if fewer babies were slaughtered? From the LAT blog:
Sarah and Todd Palin’s decision to complete her recent pregnancy, despite advance notice that their baby Trig had Down syndrome, is hailed by many in the pro-life movement as walking the walk as well as talking the talk.
But a senior Canadian doctor is now expressing concerns that such a prominent public role model as the governor of Alaska and potential vice president of the United States completing a Down syndrome pregnancy may prompt other women to make the same decision against abortion because of that genetic abnormality. And thereby reduce the number of abortions. …
But hey, go ahead and tell yourselves that all liberals really want is “safe, but rare” abortions…your lying eyes be damned.
And the left wants us to emulate Canuckistan? No thanks! From AFP:
A Canadian court has lifted a 12-year-old girl’s grounding, overturning her father’s punishment for disobeying his orders to stay off the Internet, his lawyer said Wednesday.
The girl had taken her father toafter he refused to allow her to go on a school trip for chatting on websites he tried to block, and then posting “inappropriate” pictures of herself online using a friend’s computer.
The father’s lawyer Kim Beaudoin said the disciplinary measures were for the girl’s “own protection” and is appealing the ruling.
“She’s a child,” Beaudoin told AFP. “At her age, children test their limits and it’s up to their parents to set boundaries.”
“I started an appeal of the decision today to reestablish parental authority, and to ensure that this case doesn’t set a precedent,” she said. Otherwise, said Beaudoin, “parents are going to be walking on egg shells from now on.”
“I think most children respect their parents and would never go so far as to take them to court, but it’s clear that some would and we have to ask ourselves how far this will go.”
According to court documents, the girl’s Internet transgression was just the latest in a string of broken house rules. Even so, Justice Suzanne Tessier found her punishment too severe.
Beaudoin noted the girl used a court-appointed lawyer in her parents’ 10-year custody dispute to launch her landmark case against dear old dad.
Got a little slut for a daughter who likes to yap on the ‘net and post skin flicks of herself for the world to see? Sucks for you, pal, because according to the court, you can’t do a damned thing about it.
So now the Canadian government gets to tell you how you can and cannot discipline your child. Heck, why bother raising the kids, then? Just pop out a rugrat or two, then turn them over the Nanny State to raise. Let them change the diapers!
A judge stepped in to basically protect her fundamental right to be sexually violated by an adult.
Heck, they even closed the schools in Canuckistan because of too much snow! The culprit? I’m gonna go out on a limb and say it’s global “warming”…er, “climate change”!
Canuckistan likes NAFTA. Barry O says he doesn’t. But Osamabama wants to curry favor with the Canucks, so he gets a little disingenuous about it. Details:
Barack Obama has ratcheted up his attacks on NAFTA, but a senior member of his campaign team told a Canadian official not to take his criticisms seriously, CTV News has learned. Both Obama and Hillary Clinton have been critical of the long-standing North American Free Trade Agreement over the course of the Democratic primaries, saying that the deal has cost U.S. workers’ jobs.
Within the last month, a top staff member for Obama’s campaign telephoned Michael Wilson, Canada’s ambassador to the United States, and warned him that Obama would speak out against NAFTA, according to Canadian sources.
The staff member reassured Wilson that the criticisms would only be campaign rhetoric, and should not be taken at face value.
Either Obama doesn’t believe NAFTA sucks but is willing to say it solely to appease the great unwashed that is the Democrat base; or he does believe NAFTA sucks and is lying to the collective faces of Canuckistan so as not to p#ss them off. Either way, that makes him a demagogue and very disingenuous…a “liar”, if you will.
Back to the boardroom, folks. In the meantime, if anyone feels like playing “Kick the Canuck” with a new moonbat my site attracted today, have at it (go through the comments…you’ll easily spot him):
Yeah, let’s mimic the Canadians, especially the former director of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association who apparently didn’t feel that strongly about civil liberties. From Canuckistan:
David Suzuki has called for political leaders to be thrown in jail for ignoring the science behind climate change.
At a Montreal conference last Thursday, the prominent scientist, broadcaster and Order of Canada recipient exhorted a packed house of 600 to hold politicians legally accountable for what he called an intergenerational crime. Though a spokesman said yesterday the call for imprisonment was not meant to be taken literally, Dr. Suzuki reportedly made similar remarks in an address at the University of Toronto last month.
Of course he was only kidding! That would explain why he’s kidded the exact same way before, n’est-ce pas?
A Mississauga, Ont. man will be formally charged on Tuesday with murder in connection with the death of his 16-year-old daughter.
The girl, Aqsa Parvez, was in critical condition on Monday after being strangled, apparently after a dispute with her family over her refusal to wear the hijab, the Islamic headscarf worn by some Muslim women.
However Peel Regional Police said Tuesday the girl died late Monday night.
Police arrested the victim’s 57-year-old father, Muhammad Parvez on Monday morning after receiving a 911 call from a Mississauga home from a man saying he had killed his daughter. He is due to appear on Tuesday in a Brampton, Ont. court.
The victim’s 26-year-old brother, Waqas Parvez, was also charged with obstructing police.
Friends of the teenager, a Grade 11 student at Applewood Heights high school, said Monday they were shocked by the attack on the outgoing, likeable girl, but said she had been threatened by her strictly religious family before.
Ebonie Mitchell, 16, a friend of the victim, said the conflict with her father over wearing Islamic dress came to a head at the beginning of this school year. “She just wanted to dress like we do,” she said. “Last year, she wore like the Islamic stuff and everything, the hijab, and this year she’s all western. She just wanted to look like everyone else.”
But if we just respect their culture (including the homicidal aspects of it), then they’d like us more and would wish us no harm, right?
As Moonbattery points out, the “one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter” news agency al-Reuters doesn’t have a monopoly on using doctored photos to advance their left-wing agenda. The CBC in Canuckistan is getting in on the action, too.
The dhimmis at al-Reuters aren’t the only ones who know how to doctor photographs to help them spin what they cavalierly refer to as “the news.” Check out the picture Canada’s CBC used to chastise Environment Minister John Baird for trying to protect his country’s economy from the Kyoto farce (via Small Dead Animals):
Politics Watch reports:
The head of Canadian Broadcasting Corporation News faced questioning from Conservative MPs on Parliament Hill Tuesday about what they called a “doctored photo” that appeared in April on CBC’s news website.
The public broadcaster’s news web site carried an altered stock photo of the Toronto skyline that was noticeably darkened and made the smog and atmospheric haze appear much worse than in the original photo.
The altered picture of the skyline accompanied a story about the Kyoto accord and was first noticed by a Canadian conservative blogger.
Tony Burman, editor in chief of CBC News, must have struggled mightily to keep a straight face while insisting that the ham-handedly doctored photo was the result of a “process error” and not indicative of left-wing bias. Anyone naive enough to rely on the MSM for information might just believe him.
Nope…no liberal media bias!
But…but…they support the troops! From the (not so) Great White North:
A soldier honoured for his military valour in Afghanistan is wondering why strangers beat him up in his hometown bar this past weekend.
“This wasn’t two guys on the ice dropping gloves and going, ‘OK, let’s go’,” Master Cpl. Collin Fitzgerald told CTV Ottawa on Tuesday.
“This was an attack — a sneak attack. To blindside a guy … and hit him with an object, there’s something wrong.”
Fitzgerald is well known in Morrisburg, Ont., a small town about an hour’s drive south of Ottawa.
He says he’d been in the bar only about 20 minutes late Friday, visiting with a childhood friend who introduced him to people as a war hero, when he was suddenly struck from behind with some type of object. Four men jumped him and began beating on him.
“They were saying ‘What kind of hero are you now?’,” Fitzgerald’s mother Arlene told CTV News.
The weapons instructor at CFB Trenton had his foot broken in three places and needed 10 stitches to close a cut above his right eye. Fitzgerald, 27, also suffered a broken nose and two black eyes in the Friday night attack.
Gov. Gen. Michaelle Jean recognized Fitzgerald in a Feb. 19 ceremony for braving enemy fire in Afghanistan.
He served eight months there. He was one of the first recipients of the Canadian Medal of Military Valour, “for outstanding selfless and valiant actions” carried out on May 24, 2006, during an enemy ambush “involving intense, accurate enemy fire.”
According to the military, Fitzgerald “repeatedly exposed himself to enemy fire by entering and re-entering a burning platoon vehicle and successfully driving it off the roadway, permitting the remaining vehicles trapped in the enemy zone to break free.”
“Collin was safer fighting the Taliban. At least he saw the enemy coming, or knew the enemy was there,” said his mother. “They are just total cowards, nothing but snakes,” said Gerald, Collin’s father.
Fortunately, they did arrest one of the p#ssies who did this. Man…why are “peace” activists so damned violent?
