Yet another chapter in the growing book of “How Liberals Are Economic Retards”. At this rate, the book will never get finished, because these libtards never learn. Details, with accompanying graph:
In a trend that continues to worsen, more Illinoisans found themselves unemployed in the month of July.
Illinois lost more jobs during the month of July than any other state in the nation, according to the most recent Bureau of Labor Statistics report. After losing 7,200 jobs in June, Illinois lost an additional 24,900 non-farm payroll jobs in July. The report also said Illinois’s unemployment rate climbed to 9.5 percent. This marks the third consecutive month of increases in the unemployment rate.
Illinois started to create jobs as the national economy began to recover. But just when Illinois’s economy seemed to be turning around, lawmakers passed record tax increases in January of this year. Since then, Illinois’s employment numbers have done nothing but decline.
I’m sure it’s just a big ol’ coinkidink that passage of a 67% income tax hike marked the beginning of the huge layoffs, right?
The court said he actually has to be a resident of Chicago to be the mayor of Chicago. What kind of crazy shinola is that?
No word yet as to whether Ballerina Boy will be mailing a dead fish to the majority who ruled against his mayoral bid.
UPDATE (01/27/2011 – 10:00 PM EST): Dead fish mailout averted. IL Supreme Court puts FOB back on the ballot.
Updates will be flowing throughout the evening. I’ll probably hit the hay around midnight or so, since those crazy people that sign my paychecks expect me to show up tomorrow and do stuff. Crazy b#st#rds! (For those of you on the left, google “paycheck” if the term confuses you.)
UPDATE 7:45 PM EST: Rand Paul wins KY Senate race over Jack Conway. Aqua Buddha hardest hit. Also, Rob Portman wins OH Senate seat vacated by RINO George Voinovich by beating Lee Fisher (D). Pickup news: Dan Coats beats liberal Brad Ellsworth for Evan Bayh’s vacated IN Senate seat. +1 GOP pickup.
UPDATE 8:00PM EST: The AP is calling the FL Senate race for Marco Rubio! Most elections, I vote against someone, but with Rubio, I enthusiastically voted for him. Two man-crushes now: Rubio and Chris Christie (I still like women, though!). Governor Citrus’ pathetic career comes to a bitter end, though I’m sure Willy Wonka will put him back to work in the chocolate factory.
UPDATE 8:10 PM EST: The left had hoped to pick up Senate seats in NH and MO (in addition to OH, mentioned above), but it didn’t happen. Republicans Ayotte in NH and Blunt in MO hold serve. #sshat Alan Grayson is getting pounded early in FL, which means he’s probably got MSNBC on speed dial and has an itchy dialing finger.
Also, Palin’s gal Christine O’Donnell got creamed by the Bearded Marxist in DE (enjoy Mike Castle’s RINO scalp!). It didn’t have to be that way, people.
UPDATE 8:30 PM EST: Blanche Lincoln gets blasted by John Boozman. Hey, Blanche, how’d that ObamaCare vote work out for you? You’re welcome, Kevin. +2 GOP pickup.
UPDATE 8:32 PM EST: Other “Blue Dogs” have fallen. Suzanne Kosmas traded her vote on ObamaCare for some NASA pork, but she’s done. VA’s Tom Perriello won narrowly in a reddish district in ’08, but his Lap Dog votes on ObamaCare, cap and tax, and Porkulus cost him this seat. His fellow VA Dem Rick Boucher just lost, as did Glenn Nye.
UPDATE 9:35 PM EST: Another FL Democrat falls: Allen Boyd in FL-2, in the Panhandle. Hard to be a “Blue Dog” when you’re adding ObamaCare’s trillions in debt, huh? Anywho, Barney Frank wins, and we have a Senate pickup in ND, as John Hoeven takes Byron Dorgan’s old seat. +3 GOP pickup.
UPDATE 10:20 PM EST: FL governor’s race still up in the air. Scott (R) up by 4% with about 75% of the votes in (and Democrat-heavy south FL isn’t finished), nowhere near ready to be called. NM will elect a Republican Latina governor. Also, the Senate is off the table, but the House is ours, baby! Chris Matthews’ leg hardest hit.
Olbermann has a hard time finding black people at Tea Party rallies, so perhaps he’ll have an easier time finding Tim Scott, the newly elected black Republican Congressman from SC-1. He’ll be in the Capitol, douche.
If retired Marine Allen West (no relation to Batman) beats Ron Klein in FL-22, that will be two black Republicans in the House. If Ryan Frazier comes from behind to win in CO-7, that would be three black Republicans. If those two men lose, can we ask why Democrats hate black people?
UPDATE 10:40 PM EST: McCain’s buddy Russ Feingold (D-WI) falls to businessman Ron Johnson. +4 GOP pickup.
Also, SC elects Palin’s gal Nikki Haley as governor. Haley endured mudslinging, especially unfounded rumors of an affair (and if you saw the dude who accused her of sleeping with him, you’d know it was a lie, as the guy was uglier than Helen Thomas chasing a parked car…and catching it.)
Stupak mortgaged his career for ObamaCare, and his seat just went to Republican Dan Banishek.
UPDATE 11:00 PM EST: Remember this guy? Phil Hare (D-IL), who said he didn’t care about the Constitution and that the deficit was a “myth”? Yeah, well now his career his a myth, as he just fell.
Still waiting on FL governor. 83% in, Scott up by 3% with South FL coming in.
UPDATE 11:40 PM EST: AP calls it for Pat Toomey. +5 GOP pickup.
UPDATE 11:59 PM EST: FL governor’s race still not decided. 91% of the votes in, Scott up by 2%, not done yet.
AP calls IL Senate for Mark Kirk. Obama’s old seat, in Republican hands! +6 GOP pickup.
Allen West did defeat Ron Klein in FL-22. Predicted MSM headline: Two black Republicans going to Congress, blacks hardest hit.
Votes out west being counted, but Californiastan votes for that senile relic Jerry Brown for governor, as well as Senator Ma’am, thus proving that they have no interest in resolving their economic despair anytime soon. Don’t know any more, I’m off to bed.
UPDATE 09:39 AM EST: FL governor’s race still not decided. 99% of the precincts are in, with Republican Rick Scott clinging to a 1% 53,000 vote lead, and about 66 precincts in heavily Democrat Palm Beach County remaining. If Scott’s lead holds and stays above 27,000, he avoids the state-mandated automatic recount. However, since Sink is married to ambulance chaser Bill McBride (recipient of Jeb Bush’s buttkicking in 2002), I wouldn’t be shocked if her side sues in the event of a loss.
UPDATE 10:49 AM EST: The FL governor’s race appears to be over. Alex Sink just conceded to Republican Rick Scott. It was very close, but in the end, the votes just weren’t there. And while that inconvenience doesn’t always stop Dems from finding/creating more, I guess Sink concluded that Scott’s win was outside the margin of fraud.
Also, don’t look now, but the nepot from AK (Princess Murkowski) looks like she just might pull off her write-in bid to get back to DC. Absentee ballots and overseas ballots have to be counted, and they did swing the 2008 Senate election to Democrat Mark Begich, so anything’s possible, I guess. But it’s not looking good for Republican Joe Miller.
Breitbart has the video clip and the story. Par for the course in Chicago.
Nope…no liberal media bias!
Further proof that you can club a liberal upside the head with facts and it wouldn’t even leave a mark. Quote:
On Monday, Chicago Mayor Daley blamed the Ft. Hood Jihad Massacre on America’s love of guns!
“Unfortunately, America loves Guns. We love guns to a point where that uh we see devastation on a daily basis. You don’t blame a group.”
I’m confused. He just said that “you don’t blame a group”…right before he blamed a group. You can’t blame Islamofascists for acts of terrorism, but you can blame Americans who exercise their Second Amendment rights? WTH?
Notes Andrew Marcus:
Taking Mayor Daley at face value for a moment, is he seriously arguing for increased gun control on a military base? If there had been more guns around, this ticking Jihad bomb could have been put down a lot faster than he was.
Liberals: Exiled from reality and living in ivory towers.
Joe Biden just called to say that Barry’s jaunt to Copenhagen to lobby for Chicago to host the Olympics is paying off “far better than thought” and is succeeding “beyond my wildest dreams”!
UPDATE (10/02/2009 – 12:41 PM EST): Watch CNN “anchor” Tony Harris stammer in disbelief upon seeing his guy’s efforts fail. He looks like someone slapped his mama. Nope…no liberal media bias!
UPDATE (10/02/2009 – 08:01 PM EST): And the spin begins, from the left and the MSM (pardon the redundancy). Since Obama’s stinging rebuke around lunchtime:
Axelrod blames Bush (wink wink nudge nudge). Seriously. Never saw that coming, huh?
Rush: “Who knew the Olympic Committee was a bunch of racists?”. Heh.
Ed Henry, CNN reporter: You know, “hope and change” maybe (and I can’t stress “may” enough) “just didn’t sell”! Who knew that people were impervious to Chairman Zero’s charm?
Newsweek’s Katie Connolly: You know, losing the Olympics was a good thing for Obama. Spin away, Toots.
But hey, Shelly O is schmoozing with Oprah and the Euros for the kids. And who doesn’t love kids, right?
I’m sure it’s just a big ol’ coinkidink. From Chicagoland:
Before Eric Holder was President-elect Barack Obama’s choice to be attorney general, he was Gov. Blagojevich’s pick to sort out a mess involving Illinois’ long-dormant casino license.
Blagojevich and Holder appeared together at a March 24, 2004, news conference to announce Holder’s role as “special investigator to the Illinois Gaming Board” — a post that was to pay Holder and his Washington, D.C. law firm up to $300,000.
Holder, however, omitted that event from his 47-page response to a Senate Judiciary Committee questionnaire made public this week — an oversight he plans to correct after a Chicago Sun-Times inquiry, Obama’s transition team indicated late Tuesday.
Holder signed the questionnaire on Sunday — five days after Blagojevich’s arrest for allegedly putting Obama’s U.S. Senate seat up for sale. The Judiciary Committee asked him to provide lists and “copies of transcripts or tape recordings of all speeches or talks delivered by you” and “all interviews you have given to newspapers, magazines or other publications.”
OK, just to make sure I’m understanding this right:
Holder was to get paid $300k for some work for Blagodonuts. Holder turned in a questionnaire to the Senate Judiciary Committee after Blago’s arrest last week, but miracle of all miracles and mother of all coincidences, he just so happened to forget his presser with Blago to include on his SJC questionnaire that he was required to disclose. I mean, with all this publicity surrounding Blago, we are to believe that Holder did not recall his public speech (you know, that thing the SJC requested a report of?) with the man?
I’m not buying it. And for good reason:
The March 2004 Chicago news conference where Holder and Blagojevich spoke was widely covered because of a controversial 4-1 Gaming Board vote earlier that month to allow a casino to be built in Rosemont. That vote defied the recommendation of the board’s staff, which had raised concerns about alleged organized-crime links to the Rosemont casino’s developer.
Besides that, the Gaming Board’s staff had been concerned that the governor had named his close friend and fund-raiser, Christopher G. Kelly, as a “special government agent” to be involved in official state negotiations about the casino. Kelly, the Sun-Times later learned, was a business partner of Tony Rezko, another Blagojevich fund-raiser who had held an option to lease a hotel site next to the proposed casino site in Rosemont.
In an interview Tuesday, the Gaming Board’s chief investigator in 2004 said the timing of Blagojevich’s appointment of Holder raised the staff’s suspicions.
“The concern was Holder had a bias to do whatever Blagojevich wanted, which was to give the casino to Rosemont,” said Jim Wagner, who was a top Chicago FBI agent before he joined the Gaming Board, from which he retired in December 2005. “We all believed the only reason Holder was coming in was to fashion an investigation that would manipulate the casino into Rosemont.”
Wagner also said the matter should be explored by the Senate Judiciary Committee. “It ought be brought up and vetted totally as to what motivated him to leave it off” the questionnaire, Wagner said. …
Hope, and change. Or something.
As many of you know, the Dem governor of IL and FOB (Friend of Barack), Rod Blagojevich, was busted by the feds for massive corruption. He was trying to sell Obama’s soon-to-be-vacated Senate seat, plus he attempted to bribe the parent company of the Chicago Tribune to fire editors/reporters who were critical of him, plus…well here, read the laundry list for yourself.
In other words, typical Chicago (and Illinois) politics…dirty as usual.
Predictably, the Obamessiah came along to make room under his bus for Ol’ Rod. He said nothing of substance, other than the “This is not the Rod Blog…Blago…Bagodonuts…whatever his name is that I thought I knew.” Barry O says he hasn’t been in contact with Blagojevich. Barry O’s spokesman said that’s not quite true. O cracks the whip, and Axelrod retreated like a French soldier. John Dickerson thinks Uhhh-bama’s answer was “underwhelming” and “unconvincing”, to say the least.
Let’s see: Dude hires a bunch of Clintonistas to run his “new” administration, and he is beset by corrupt associates before he has even taken office yet…this isn’t “Change”, Obaminions, it’s the Clinton Administration Part II.
UPDATE (12/10/2008 – 1:35 P.M. EST): Yep, Big O and Blag-o met to talk about the Senate seat vacancy. Must have slipped O’s mind. Years of drug abuse will do that, I suppose.
UPDATE (12/11/2008 – 8:10 A.M. EST): Quoth The One two days ago: “I had no contact with the governor or his office and so we were not, I was not aware of what was happening.” Which is why Big O and Blag-o were pressing the flesh just last Tuesday. Why, if I didn’t know any better, I’d swear that the Obamaliar was being a little “less than truthful”!
It is unlikely in the extreme that Obama plotted corruptly with Blago shortly after having been elected president. That’s not the way the favor bank works, after all. The guy with more power doesn’t need the guy with less power very much.
It does however underscore Obama’s breathless dishonesty on his contacts with his various criminal associates — he simply makes s##t up out of whole cloth. He just doesn’t care that there is a factual record to rebut his lies– he knows the Obamamedia won’t call him out.
