Schumer accidentally telegraphs talking points on conference call with press and fellow Democrats

When he’s not busy working on stealing Republicans’ identity, Chuck the Schmuck likes to pass the time rehearsing his talking points with his fellow Senate Democrats…unaware that the phone call is not muted and reporters are picking up his marching orders.  Details:

Moments before a conference call with reporters was scheduled to get underway on Tuesday morning, Charles E. Schumer of New York, the No. 3 Democrat in the Senate, apparently unaware that many of the reporters were already on the line, began to instruct his fellow senators on how to talk to reporters about the contentious budget process.

After thanking his colleagues — Barbara Boxer of California, Benjamin L. Cardin of Maryland, Thomas R. Carper of Delaware and Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut — for doing the budget bidding for the Senate Democrats, who are facing off against the House Republicans over how to cut spending for the rest of the fiscal year, Mr. Schumer told them to portray John A. Boehner of Ohio, the speaker of the House, as painted into a box by the Tea Party, and to decry the spending cuts that he wants as extreme. “I always use the word extreme,” Mr. Schumer said. “That is what the caucus instructed me to use this week.”

A minute or two into the talking-points tutorial, though, someone apparently figured out that reporters were listening, and silence fell.

Heh.  Schmucky robotically parrots the “caucus” talking points.  Obviously, the Dems are laying the groundwork for a government shutdown, and these talking points are merely practice for their justification for a shutdown: “These extremely extreme extremists are responsible.  Not just responsible, but extremely responsible!”

And right on cue, Babs Boxer seizes the opportunity to…well, to stick with the telegraphed message.  Isn’t that like a pitcher telling the batter “I’m going to throw a fastball down the middle” and then actually doing it?  She just pretended like no one had heard it!  :lol:

Then the conference call began in earnest, with the Democrats right on message.

“We are urging Mr. Boehner to abandon the extreme right wing,” said Ms. Boxer, urging the House to compromise on the scale of spending cuts and to drop proposed amendments that would deny federal financing for Planned Parenthood and for government agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency.

Those extremists!  Why, they don’t want to federally subsidize PP’s baby slaughtering or child sex trafficking!  The nerve!

In the end, I don’t think this hurts Schmucky that much.  After all, we’re talking reporters here…AKA Democrat constituents.

So I would urge my Republican colleagues, no matter how strong they feel — you know, we have three branches of government: we have a House, the Senate, we have a President, and all three of us are going to have to come together and give some.

I wonder if any of his handlers let him know that the three branches of the federal government are the executive, the legislative, and the judicial branches.  Phil Hare just called from the unemployment line to say “Dude, even I knew that!”

And this schmuck has sworn to uphold and defend the Constitution?

Shameless Franken attack ad totally whiffs

A swing…and a miss.  Allah has the details and the video clips, but in a nutshell, this new attack ad in MN has a couple who lost their son in Iraq wanting to know why Norm Coleman sent their son off to die?

Does it even matter to these sickos (who, by the way, supposedly don’t like to use the dead as political props) that the authorization for war in Iraq was passed in 2002…before Norm Coleman entered the friggin’ Senate?  Does it even matter to these shameless liberals that Chuck the Schmuck Schumer, who helped fund and assemble this ad, did vote for the authorization for war?

Coleman has quite the retort himself, though.  Keep up the pressure, Norm.

Schumer: American side is “the other side”

Joe Lieberman gave a great speech at the RNC last night.  Naturally, the Dems were fuming.  From WCBS:

Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman said America needs a president that can be counted on in a time of war. For him, the candidate is Republican McCain. 

Lieberman, a Democrat-turned-independent who was the blue side’s candidate for vice president in 2000, said that while Sen. Barack Obama was voting to cut off funding for troops in Iraq, McCain took the unpopular position to support a surge in troops.

“Because of that, today, our troops are at last beginning to come home, not in failure, but in honor,” Lieberman said.

Lieberman said that in times like these, country matters more than political parties.
“I’m here tonight because John McCain is the best choice to bring our country together and lead our country forward. I’m here because John McCain’s whole life testifies to a great truth: being a Democrat or a Republican is important. But it is not more important than being an American,” Lieberman said.

Charles Schumer, the senior Senator from New York, begs to differ. In fact, most Democrats are furious with Lieberman.

“I like Joe Lieberman, but that’s a big mistake for him,” Schumer said. “To be pro-war and to have his views on the issues, everyone respects that. But you don’t go over to the other side.”

Got that?  Chuch the Schmuck thinks that being a Democrat is more important than being an American.  But hey, don’t you go and question the left’s patriotism or anything.  Maybe Liebs wouldn’t have to “go over to the other side” if his own side wasn’t so shamefully invested in defeat.

Wasn’t Schmuckie thrilled when Jumpin’ Jim Jeffords had a “moment of clarity” and opportunistically switched party affiliation in order to get a Senate committee chair?  Jeffords did not have a “change of heart”…he wanted more power, influence, and media adulation (and boy, did he get it).  Liebs isn’t doing what he’s doing for any of those reasons, since the Dems are all but certain to pick up new Senate seats (thus diminishing Liebs’ influence).  I disagree with Joe on nearly everything, but I salute the man’s love of country above his love of party.
