Support for ObamaCare plummets
Rasmussen is showing that support for ObamaCare is at an all-time low at 56% opposition, despite B.O.’s marathon of TV appearances to pitch his unpopular program. It seems that appearing a bunch of times and parroting the same old tired talking points (and offering nothing new) isn’t moving the electorate to his side. Go figure.
So naturally, the Dems have a fantastic idea to win support for the program: offer ObamaCare to illegal aliens. You know, that thing that B.O. said wouldn’t be in the health care overhaul and Joe Wilson called him on it? Brilliant move, Dems. Nothing says “I want to hold onto control of Congress” quite like driving up the national debt to cover health care for criminals, huh?
Obama: My health care plan won’t cover illegal aliens, so let’s legalize them so they CAN get my health plan
Details here.
But where would you get the crazy idea that liberals are interested in expanding dependence on the federal government in order to gain a stronghold on power?
Week’s ending review
B.O.’s SCOTUS nominee, we are told, made this one isolated reference to female Hispanic making better decisions than men of any race. If, by “isolated”, they mean “she’s said it on multiple occasions“, then yeah…”isolated”!
When he’s not busy shilling for criminal aliens, Sometimes-Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham likes to spend his time pacifying the base by slamming Sotomayor’s racist words. I’m not sure why he’s got such a problem with her, since she was a member of the Hispanic supremacist group La Raza…the same La Raza that Graham appeared before to “tell the bigots to shut up” about criminal immigration.
Quote of the week by filmmaker John Ziegler, who has put out a movie called “Media Malpractice” about the Kamikaze Media’s coverage of the 2008 election: “Monica Lewinsky never dreamed of doing to Bill Clinton some of the things Brian Williams did to Barack Obama”! Heh.
When unemployment was 5% during the Bush years, the MSM howled. Now that it’s doubled under The One’s watch, the MSM spins unemployment as “fun”…”funemployment“! Please pick your jaw up off the floor long enough to say “Nope…no liberal media bias!” I’m guessing the Second Great Depression will be “Funpression #2″, maybe?
Obama said the Holocaust is bad, but then implies that it’s no worse than what those d#mned Joooooos are doing to the poor, innocent, peaceful “Palestinians” every day. Moral equivalency: it’s not just for dinner anymore.
Dem Congressman wants to close the Mexican border
Finally, a Dem with some common sense about the security risk posed by a porous border with Mexico! At long last, a leftie who recognizes the economic drain on this country by the hordes of criminal immigrants taxing our social infrastructure with demands on our criminal justice system, health care system, etc.!
Just kidding. His sole concern is the swine flu problem. All those other problems are no big whoop.
To recap: Closing the border due to reasons unrelated to swine flu is not feasible, but closing the border due to to swine flu is totally doable and a moral imperative.
Got it. Thanks for the clarification.
Mel Martinez won’t run again in 2010
Hallelujah! From The Hill:
Sen. Mel Martinez (R-Fla.) announced Tuesday that he will not seek reelection in 2010, passing on what looked to be one of the most difficult reelection battles in the country.
Martinez, 62, has been saying for weeks that he intended to run again but would wait until January to make an announcement. Instead, he announced less than a month after the 2008 elections that he is passing on another term.
…
Democrats are searching for a candidate in the race. Among those being mentioned at this early stage are Reps. Allen Boyd, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Ron Klein, Robert Wexler and Kathy Castor, as well as state Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink.
Bob Wexler? Dude’s crazier than an Islamofascist at an S.I. Swimsuit Edition photoshoot!
I was dreading Senor Mel’s re-election, since I knew I wasn’t going to be voting for him. His unwavering position on amnesty for criminal aliens was enough to turn me away from him. This ought to give the GOP time to find a suitable candidate (though never underestimate the ability of the GOP to screw something up). Maybe Gov. Crist, who I’d rather have out of our state and in D.C., would be an option.
Adios, Senor Mel Amnesty! Don’t let la puerta hit you on the way out!
Michelle Obama: Yep, hubby supports amnesty
From Shelly O:
Hispanics should not have to live in fear of raids by immigration agents, Michelle Obama told a Hispanic caucus to the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday.
Her husband, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, wants to reform immigration policies and provide illegal immigrants a path to citizenship, she said.
“We would have an immigration policy that brings 12 million people out of the shadows,” she told cheering caucus members who shouted “Yes we can” in Spanish.
Still avoiding the word “illegal”? Let me clarify this for you: If you are Hispanic and are not here illegally, then you have no need to fear raids from immigration officials. If you are here illegally, then you have no need to fear raids from immigration officials if you simply get the hell out of the country! There…problem solved.
Texas adds finality to World Court saga
Recall the story of how the UN’s World Court tried to usurp American sovereignty and stop the execution of criminal alien Jose Medellin, despite the obvious fact that the World Court has no jurisdiction whatsoever. Well, TX just gave a Texas-sized “kiss my rump!” to the Court by executing Medellin’s worthless hide yesterday. Details:
Texas has executed Mexican-born condemned prisoner Jose Medellin for the rape and murder of two teenage girls 15 years ago.
The state carried out the execution late Tuesday night after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected his request for a reprieve in a split vote.
The 33-year-old Medellin had claimed he was denied treaty-guaranteed help from the Mexican consulate when he was arrested.
Texas authorities say he never invoked his consular rights until four years after he was arrested. By then, he had been convicted and condemned for participating in the attack on 16-year-old Elizabeth Pena and 14-year-old Jennifer Ertman.
Memo to the UN: Don’t mess with Texas.
Obama: those who enforce immigration law are “terrorists”
Hey, what do ya know? The Obamessiah actually did demonstrate a difference between himself and McAmnesty on criminal immigration. To the best of my knowledge, Juanny Mac never said anything like this:
When communities are terrorized by ICE immigration raids, when nursing mothers are torn from their babies (WTF? – Ed.), when children come home from school to find their parents missing, when people are detained without access to legal counsel, when all that is happening, the system just isn’t working, and we need to change it.
Why, it seems like just yesterday I read about a baby being nursed by his mother before being abruptly (and savagely) ripped from madre’s bosom! Hold on a sec…actually, I never read about that! If the Obamaliar has proof that this happened, I sure would love to see it.
But that bit of Hispandering melodramatic rhetoric aside, look a little deeper at what Barry O is saying here: those who enforce immigration law are basically domestic al Qaeda. He can’t distinguish between our government and a terrorist organization, and this buffoon wants to be Commander in Chief?
Finally, here’s a bit of “an inconvenient truth” that this schmuck and his like-minded ilk (and in some ways, that includes McAmnesty) seem to willfully ignore: if criminal aliens weren’t entering, working, and staying here in direct violation of our federal laws, then they need not fear any consequences! Don’t break the law, and you won’t get arrested. It’s so simple even a caveman can grasp it.
USA Today laments criminal aliens not getting in-state tuition
The Hispandering of the MSM continues. Excerpt:
Some states are making it harder for illegal immigrants to attend college by denying in-state tuition benefits or banning undocumented students.
In the past two years, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia and Oklahoma have refused in-state tuition benefits to students who entered the USA illegally with their parents but grew up and went to school in the state. That represents a reversal from earlier this decade, when 10 states passed laws allowing in-state rates for such students….
…Opponents say students shouldn’t be penalized for their parents’ actions. Helping them is “the right thing to do (hey, isn’t rewarding criminal behavior ALWAYS the “right thing to do”? – Ed.) even if it’s unpopular,” says North Carolina state Rep. Pricey Harrison, a Democrat who introduced a bill that would prevent state institutions from asking about students’ immigration status.
Cry me a Rio Grande! I had to pay out-of-state tuition when I enrolled at Florida State University (since I was a resident of TN), but I guess if my old man had been an “undocumented” migrant orange-picker instead of a U.S. Marine, I would have caught a break on my tuition. Sucks for me, huh?
Nope…no liberal media bias!
10-year-old raped & impregnated by criminal alien?
If society hadn’t officially gone to Hell in a handbasket, this should do the trick. From Idaho:
A man has been charged with raping a 10-year-old girl who later gave birth in eastern Idaho.
The girl gave birth less than two weeks ago by caesarian section at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg, Fremont County Sheriff Ralph C. Davis and other authorities said. Officials would not disclose the gender, date of birth or paternity of the baby.
“I wouldn’t have believed a 10-year-old could conceive in the first place,” Davis said.
Buried down a bit further is this:
Guadalupe Gutierrez-Juarez, 37, of St. Anthony, was arrested the same day, Police Chief James Smith said.
“We had good information from witnesses,” Smith said.
In documents that were filed April 29 in 7th District Court and obtained by The Associated Press, Gutierrez-Juarez is charged with one count of rape. He remained in jail with bail set at $250,000 pending a preliminary hearing May 13.
Authorities said Gutierrez-Juarez did not have legal documentation to live in the United States. His home town and nationality were not immediately clear, but police said they had received no complaints about him before investigating the pregnancy.
If this is true, then I’d like to hear a certain D.C. amnesty shill tell me how my outrage at this makes me a “quacking” bigot. If dude is guilty of boinking this girl, then it is irrefutable that had this country implemented stronger border controls, this S.O.B. wouldn’t have been here to steal this little girl’s innocence. Then again, the aforementioned D.C. amnesty shill and her ilk might have been inconvenienced by slightly more expensive strawberries. I mean, what good is a child’s youth if it means you gotta pay another seventy cents at Whole Foods, right?
Night and Day
McAmnesty then:
TIM RUSSERT: If the Senate passed your bill, S-1433, the McCain-Kennedy immigration bill, would you as president sign it?
JOHN MCCAIN: Yeah, but the lesson is that it isn’t going to come, it isn’t going to come. The lesson is they want the borders secured first.
McAmnesty now:
“Unless we enact comprehensive immigration reform I don’t think you can take it piecemeal,” he explained Monday, answering a question about providing visas for skilled workers.
“In other words,” he said, “because as soon you and I start to talk about the highly skilled workers, our agricultural interest people are going to say, ‘Look we need ag workers, too.’ And then somebody’s going say, ‘We need the DREAM Act,’ and then somebody’s going to say, ‘We’ve got to enforce our border.’”
“We get in this kind of a circular firing squad on immigration reform in the Congress of the United States,” McCain said, “and the lesson I learned from it is we’ve got to have comprehensive immigration reform.”
Seriously, this is the best the GOP could come up with?
Unemployment plummets in OK due to enforcement-based immigration policies?
Newsbusters asks the questions that the MSM and their open-borders advocate friends won’t ask:
Oklahoma’s unemployment rate, which was a seasonally adjusted 4.3% and 4.4%, respectively, in September and October 2007 (4.1% and 4.2% unadjusted), has fallen to a seasonally adjusted 3.1% in both February and March of this year (3.5% and 3.2% unadjusted).
The unemployment rate in most states has gone up from September 2007 to March 2008. In states where the rate has gone down, none has shown an improvement like that seen in the Sooner State — not even close.
Why is that?
What has happened in Oklahoma that hasn’t happened elsewhere?
Well, one thing Oklahoma did last year was to pass an enforcement-focused immigration reform law.
It did so in May, and it took effect in November. Here is how One News Now described the bill at the time it was signed by the state’s governor (original link no longer available):
House Bill 1804 was passed by overwhelming majorities in both the House and Senate of the Oklahoma Legislature. The measure’s sponsor, State Representative Randy Terrill, says the bill has four main topical areas: it deals with identity theft; it terminates public assistance benefits to illegals; it empowers state and local police to enforce federal immigration laws; and it punishes employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens.
Oklahoma is no longer “O.K.” for illegal aliens, Terrill observes. “When you put everything together in context,” he contends, “the bottom line is illegal aliens will not come here if there are no jobs waiting for them, they will not stay here if there is no government subsidy, and they certainly won’t stay here if they know that if they ever encounter our state and local law enforcement officers, they will be physically detained until they’re deported. And that’s exactly what House Bill 1804 does.”
The Oklahoma legislator is pleased the bill he sponsored into law was signed by Governor Henry and believes it will go a long way to curb the illegal immigration problem in the state.
It seems reasonable to ask if the law has accomplished the intended curbing of illegal immigration. This January 9 USA Today article by Emily Bazar (“Strict immigration law rattles Okla. businesses”) indicates that it has — not that Bazar thinks that this is a good thing.
The next question to ask would be whether citizens have taken jobs that illegals used to do. Though the lower unemployment rate doesn’t in and of itself prove that, it does point strongly in that direction.
The improving employment situation in the state has received sparse coverage, and the only two relevant stories I found (here and here) did not attempt to explain why it’s happening.
Will anyone in Old Media dig more deeply into the Sooner State’s situation? Or will they try to pretend that Oklahoma’s improvement doesn’t exist, because finding out why might expose some inconvenient truths, and hurt the cause of illegal-immigrant “amnesty”?
Oklahomans…”quacking bigots“, or pragmatic Americans? And before I forget: Nope…no liberal media bias!
Jamiel’s Law vs. LAPD Special Order 40
The moonbat mecca south of San Fransicko, aka L.A., has had a policy for years in line with their status as a criminal alien sanctuary city: Special Order 40. In short, it’s an LAPD directive not to inquire about anyone’s immigration status when responding to a call, working a crime scene, and even booking a suspect. Well, Special Order 40 has had tragic, yet predictable, consequences. Just ask the family and friends of Jamiel Shaw, gunned down by a criminal alien gangbanger.
Enter Jamiel’s Law. It’s an effort that’s rife with a modicum of common sense, which is why the pro-open borders crowd (to which a former friend of mine belongs) opposes it. Basically, it requires law enforcement officials to check into the immigration status of gangbangers, regardless of whether they’ve already commited another crime (in addition to the violation of federal immigration law). Supporters of Special Order 40 are stumbling overthemselves now saying that their Order wasn’t intended to protect gang members, but when your city announces to the world that criminals are welcome there, the consequences should come as no surprise.
Personally, I don’t think Jamiel’s Law goes nearly far enough, but it’s a start. So unless open borders advocates like my former friends want to call Jamiel’s family members “quacking bigots” and tell them that a girl needs her cheap strawberries, I suggest they get out of the way and let normal America handle this problem like the grown-ups we are.
Government cracking down on criminal immigrants
Of course, it’s not our government…it’s Mexico’s! From the AP:
Central Americans without documents now face increased security within Mexico, including checks on the train for stowaways. It’s also harder for them to head north once they cross into Mexico because of hurricane damage to the train tracks.
The result: The number of non-Mexican migrants stopped by the U.S. Border Patrol has dropped almost 60 percent from 2005, despite increased detention efforts. About 68,000 non-Mexican migrants — mostly Central Americans — were detained last year, compared to 165,000 in 2005. Non-Mexicans make up about 10 percent of all migrants caught by Border Patrol officers.
Mexico itself is also seeing fewer illegal immigrants — 120,000 were arrested last year, a 50 percent drop from 2005, when Hurricane Stan hit and destroyed the railroad, according to the National Immigration Institute. Since President Felipe Calderon took office two years ago, Mexico has added more soldiers and federal police on its border with Guatemala and more immigration and military checkpoints throughout the south.
Kudos to Calderon for taking national security and sovereignty seriously. It’s good to see someone who recognizes the importance of those things.
What? Wait, you mean this Calderon?
The Mexican government, he said, would continue to “energetically protest unilateral actions” of the U.S. Congress on the immigration front that he said “exacerbate the persecution of undocumented Mexicans in the U.S.”
Calderon, usted es un hipócrita! (My online English-to-Spanish translator choked on deciphering “chutzpah”, so “hypocrite” had to do.)
UPDATE: Government school tells attacked girl she can’t call her parents
UPDATE: Thanks to the alert commenter MG for pointing to this story. Apparently, the whole thing was made up by the girl, and now she faces trouble for concocting the story. So, heh heh, disregard the rant below!
Here is a bona fide cornucopia of topics, all in one story. From Texas:
Melanie Bowers, 13, and her parents walked into Athens High School Monday afternoon to talk to campus police. They were hoping to get some answers.
“It never should have happened in the first place. The whole assignment was a silly assignment and they should have contacted us immediately after it happened,” said J.R. Bowers, Melanie’s father.
It was an assignment for history class–to make a protest sign for or against an issue, and Melanie said she chose illegal immigration. Her sign read, “If you love our nation, stop illegal immigration.” Somehow, Melanie said the sign got passed around lunch and angered a group of Latino students.
“I didn’t know any of these people,” she said. One young [student], she claimed, jumped on her back and he put her in a choke hold. “We have brick walls in the middle school and he slammed my face on the bricks.”
Melanie said a group of boys also threatened to rape and kill her. Eventually, the boys let her go and when she went for help, she was ordered back to class, and told she could not call her parents, she said.
“They handled this wrong, you know, they put a child back in danger,” said J.R. Bowers. “It was a very racially motivated crime.”
Observations:
1. Why in the world did the government school not allow a girl who had just been attacked, not to mention threatened with rape and murder, to call her parents?
2. I thought criminal aliens were supposed to be “peaceful” and “just looking for a better way of life”? Or does “better way of life” mean “attacking gringo girls”? Real tough hombrés, si?
3. Does this qualify as a so-called “hate crime”, or is the victim (for those of you on the left, the victim here is the girl) a little too Caucasian for this to be a “hate crime”?
4. These dumb#sses wound up proving her point, didn’t they?
Mexico: Hey, what are we supposed to do with all these Mexicans coming back here?
BEVERAGE ALERT! Put down your coffee, beer, tea, or whatever else before reading this. From the LA Times:
No one knows how many immigrants have left the state, and the most recent government figures show Arizona growing robustly — as of July, Maricopa was the fastest-growing county in the nation.
But enough immigrants have left that the government of Sonora, the Mexican state bordering Arizona, has complained about how many people have arrived on its doorstep.
Someone dial “9-wah-waaaaah!” and get a “Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah-mbulance” dispatched pronto. Cry me a Rio Grande, Sonora!
Assaulting cops with beer bottles = “jobs Americans won’t do”
Criminal aliens at it again! But hey, they’re just otherwise law-abiding criminals workers looking for a better life! From central FL:
A Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy is recovering after being ambushed while making an arrest.
Investigators say Lake County Deputy Cliff McMikeenamy responded to a noise complaint near Long Acres Road in Sorento Sunday evening. While on scene, the deputy said an unknown suspect threw a beer bottle at his patrol car. McMikeenamy chased the suspect down and attempted to subdue him with a taser gun but before the deputy could secure the man, about a dozen other men attacked the deputy. “As he was securing the subject with his handcuffs, several other people here at the residence began attacking him. They struck him repeatedly, began kicking him, and his injuries lead us to believe that one subject even struck him over the head with a beer bottle,” said Sergeant John Herrell from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy McMikeenamy was transported to a Florida Hospital Waterman in Eustis and treated for cuts and bruises.
At least two men were taken into custody. Authorities say the two who were apprehended have been identified as illegal immigrants.
They saved the best for last, didn’t they?
Hey, I’ve got an idea! Maybe Juan McLame could pay them $50/hr to pick lettuce in AZ, so they’ll get the hell out of my state!
Insanity, Oregon style
From Neal Boortz:
HIRE THE ILLEGALS – FIRE THE SUPERVISORS
Yup .. that’s what’s happening out west. It seems that with many wildfires out west they’re having to hire Hispanic firefighters in large numbers. Yeah .. and we all know they’re legal, right? Well, it seems that in Oregon there is some regulation which requires supervisors to speak the language of their crews. Since many of the crews are now made up of illegal aliens who cannot speak English, the supervisors are being fired or laid off. Just wonderful. Hire illegals who can’t speak English .. then fire the citizens who work as supervisors because they can’t speak the language of the illegal employees.
Brilliant, Oregonians. Just friggin’ brilliant.
San Franistan: Bring me your poor, your tired, your criminal masses
When they’re not busy telling our military that they’re unnecessary, San Fransicko is publicizing to the criminal alien population: Come to our town! We don’t need any stinking laws here! From the S.F. Examiner:
San Francisco’s “sanctuary” policy for illegal immigrants, which has drawn sharp criticism from conservatives, will be promoted in an advertisement campaign complete with multilanguage brochures and radio and TV public service announcements.
The city-funded outreach campaign is expected to roll out this spring and build on San Francisco’s response to last year’s federal immigration raids, which city officials said scared undocumented immigrants into not accessing city services, reporting crimes or sending children to school.
City officials Wednesday were not able to provide The Examiner with a cost breakdown for the campaign.
“We have worked with the Board of Supervisors, Department of Public Health, labor and immigrant rights groups to create a city government-wide public awareness campaign so that immigrants know The City won’t target them for using city services,” said Nathan Ballard, Mayor Gavin Newsom’s spokesman.
City officials there just can’t seem to bring themselves to use the word “illegal”, can they?
Can we please allow these sickos to secede from the union already?
Washington Times getting P.C.
I’d expect this kind of claptrap from the Washington comPost, but not the Washington Times. Disappointed, I don’t mind telling ya! From Lone Wacko:
A purported memo from John Solomon, new editor of the Washington Times, is here. It updates their style guide to remove scare quotes around certain phrases, and also:
1) Clinton will be the headline word for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.
2) Gay is approved for copy and preferred over homosexual, except in clinical references or references to sexual activity.
3) The quotation marks will come off gay marriage (preferred over homosexual marriage).
4) Moderate is approved, but centrist is still allowed.
5) We will use illegal immigrants, not illegal aliens.
“Aliens” and “illegal aliens” are used in the U.S. Code many times. “Illegal immigrants” appears, as far as I can tell, only one time. And, while some might disagree, “immigrant” implies legality and in that way “illegal immigrant” is an oxymoron. It might also indicate that the Washington Times is starting down the slippery slope towards being like the Washington Post.
It could have been worse. They could have pulled a Harry Reid and called them “undocumented Americans“!
Decapitating border patrol agents: just doin’ the jobs Americans won’t do
While Juan McAmnesty gets his lettuce, maybe he can squeeze in a little time to justify this:
The Border Patrol says assaults against its agents in San Diego County have taken a dramatic upturn since last fall, including one attempt to set a booby trap that could decapitate agents riding all-terrain vehicles.
Agents last Saturday night found a thick wire stretched across a dirt road they use to patrol the U.S.-Mexico border, attached at one end to a secondary border fence and running through a hole in the main fence several yards away.
When pulled taut, the wire stretched about four feet over the ground – roughly at the level of an agent’s neck.
It’s part of a sizable spike in the number of assaults on their officers in the area – 176 since last October, compared with 254 for the entire previous fiscal year.
I know, I know: just open the borders and these decapitation attempts will stop, right?
Jorge W. Bush to give $1.4 billion to secure Mexico’s southern border
The jack#ss won’t secure our border with Meheeko, but he wants to keep criminal aliens from illegally entering Meheeko from the south? When will this madness freakin’ end? From Michelle Malkin:
A reader asked me to check into information that President Bush was pushing a massive foreign-aid package to Mexico to help them secure their southern border against the flow of illegal aliens from Central America.
“We can’t even get our own border straight, and we are going to provide Mexico with funding so they can solve their problem,” the reader fumed. “I doubt the Central Americans are staying very long in Mexico anyway. We know where they are going!”
Too outrageously outrageous to be true?
Well, I checked it out and it’s even worse than the reader described. Far worse.
The plan is called “The Merida Initiative.” Seems that the White House has had this plan in the works for nearly a year with little congressional input on either side of the border.
We can’t finish our own border fence, properly supply our immigration agents and border patrol with all the equipment and resources they need, or get our house in order. Yet, the Bush administration wants to fork over $1.4 billion to Mexico and Central America–with much of it going into the hands of corrupt law enforcement officials and government bureaucrats who have worked tirelessly to undermine our immigration laws. The funding is tucked into the 2008 supplemental budget.
Naturally, the State Department has taken a lead role. They’ve held meetings in secret and cut out members of Congress from discussion. You’ll love the explanation for the secrecy: Mexico is “sensitive,” you see. Also, according to one expert, “Mexico is very protective of its sovereignty and very worried about any incursion of U.S. security forces or private contractors—like Blackwater—coming in to train Mexicans.” Yeah, they’re worried about incursions and sovereignty.
…
At a little-noticed hearing (finally) on the plan last week, seems there was some opposition.Rep. Gabrielle Gifford, D-Ariz., questioned whether it was wise to assist Mexico at a time when the U.S. economy appears to be headed toward a recession.
“Unless we have our house in order, putting millions into Central America and Mexico is not the solution,” she said.
But I haven’t read about any opposition from Republicans. Yoo-hoo. Anybody home? …
There’s more, but you get the gist. Contact your elected leaders (those NOT named Jorge W. Bush) and demand that this funding be cut ASAFP!
Juan McCain says he’s learned his amnesty lesson
Here’s what McCain says in the call.
SENATOR JOHN MCCAIN: On the issue of immigration, there’s no debate that our borders are broken. There are 12 million people here illegally. I’ve listened and learned. We must secure our borders first and restore trust and confidence in our government. As president, I’ll hire new border patrol guards, build a fence, ask governors to certify that their borders are secure. The 2 million people who have committed crimes will be deported immediately. No one will be rewarded for illegal behavior. They’ll go the back of the line, pay fines and learn English. For those already in our country, there will be no special privileges and we’ll punish employers who hire illegal immigrants. We’ll be humane and compassionate, but we will be firm. It’s a matter of national security.
What kind of fence would McCain build? Oh yeah…
How would McCain inspire confidence in government? Give former Mexican cabinet officer Juan Hernandez a post in Homeland Security? Along with Sen. Lindsay “we’re gonna tell the bigots to shut up” Graham as Attorney General? And by signing his own McCain-Kennedy bill once a Democrat Congress has sent it to his desk?
Yeah, probably all that.
Dubya won’t support Romney due to amnesty stance
Dubya likes him some amnesty. Mitt doesn’t. Ergo, Bush isn’t supporting Romney.
Reason #4,133 I can’t wait for that faux conservative to get the hell out of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
McCain hires open borders advocate for his campaign
For “Hispanic community outreach”, no less. Heck, I figured his “I’ll pay you $50/hr to pick lettuce” would be a sufficient display of Hispandering, but he decided to take it a step further.
In case you think I’m being facetious with the label “open borders advocate”, here’s the man’s own words:
Dr. Hernandez is on the record, on his own web site no less, favoring the free flow of people between the United States and Mexico. The following quote is set off in large red letters on Hernandez’s web site.
We must not only have a free flow of goods and services, but also start working for a free flow of people.
Hernandez is also on the record advocating a “Mexico first” policy for Mexican-Americans who have been living in the US for generations. The Soros-connected former Mexican cabinet officer is also on the record as seeing the US, Mexico and Canada as a bloc or region within which there shouldn’t be borders. Unless those policies sync with McCain’s, Hernandez does not agree with McCain’s policies. He might be on the senator’s staff for some other reason, but policy agreement isn’t it. Unless, of course, McCain agrees with Hernandez’s policies. And if that’s the case, the voters ought to know about it.
Johnny Mac is feigning ignorance on this one. But yeah, go ahead and believe McAmnesty when he says he will “secure the border” first.
Mexican politicians mad at Arizona for immigration laws
If you have any doubts as to the strain that criminal aliens put on our social service infrastructure, wonder no more. From Arizona:
A delegation of nine state legislators from Sonora traveled to Tucson to make the case against Arizona’s new employer sanctions law,
The lawmakers say it will have a devastating affect on the Mexican state.
At a news conference Tuesday, they said Sonora cannot handle the demand for housing, jobs and schools it will face as illegal Mexican workers in Arizona return to their hometowns without jobs or money.
Straight from the burro’s mouth, amigos. Now this part is scary:
“How can they pass a law like this?” asked Mexican Rep. Leticia Amparano Gamez, who represents Nogales. (Um, because it’s our damned country and not yours? And because you passed laws more severe than ours that deals harshly with YOUR illegal immigrants? Just guessing. – Ed.) “There is not one person living in Sonora who does not have a friend or relative working in Arizona,” Amparano said in Spanish.
Mexican lawmakers admitting the pervasive existence of Mexican lawbreakers…wonderful. Finally:
Diaz said the Arizona law will lead to the disintegration of the family, as one legal Mexican parent remains in Arizona and the other returns to Mexico.
Oh, cry me a Rio Grande! If a father comes back to Mexico from his illegal foray into America, how does that disintegrate his family? Either they will come back with him, or they will remain in violation of federal immigration law like the padre was. Their choice, and not Arizona’s problem.
Can we just get down to brass tacks here? Mexico’s problem with Arizona is that Arizona’s plan will put a bottleneck in the pipeline of pesos coming back into Mexico for work that was criminally done in America. They want the money to keep coming in, and to hell with our laws! Ergo, I say “to hell with Mexico”! Let them take care of their own people instead of gravytraining off of ours.
Boortz’ immigration plan
This is a plan that I think makes the most sense, hence it will never be implemented. Irrational former friends who accuse me of being a “quacking” bigot will have to embrace a new talking point. From Neal Boortz:
Here’s a plan. I think it’s an excellent one. It is not original with me. I’ve just cobbled together a few ideas and concepts from a few different sources. I’ve covered this before in the Nuze … but being the repetitive sort .. here we go again.
Step 1. Enact harsh penalties against employers who knowingly or carelessly hire illegals. If a simple mistake was made, the penalty is low. If the illegal hiring was clearly intentional or through premeditated negligence, the penalty is harsh … up to and including having your business shut down. The object here is to deny jobs to people who are in this country illegally.
Step 2. Deny all but emergency services to people who are in this country illegally. This includes no driver’s licenses. Illegals also would not be allowed to enroll in any college or university that receives government money.
Step 3. Pass federal laws, or amend the Constitution if need be, to deny citizenship status to babies born to mothers in this country illegally.OK .. at this point you have the illegals heading home. They can’t work. They can only get basic emergency services. The surroundings become decidedly unfriendly, and they go home.
But wait! Realistically we all know that there are many American industries that need these people to work. No problem. The second phase of this solution sets up a guest worker program .. so here are the next steps:Step 4. Issue guest worker cards to foreign nationals who wish to come to the United States to work on a temporary basis. These guest worker cards can ONLY be issued by U.S. authorities in the countries in which the guest workers were born or of which they are citizens. No guest worker cards will be issued in the U.S.
Step 5. Establish a network of government-licensed staffing agencies. These staffing agencies will be established solely to handle the demand for guest workers. An employer will place an order with the agency for a specific number of workers with specific skills for a specific period of time. The agency will then work through it’s counterpart in Mexico or elsewhere to arrange for the needed workers and to deliver them to the employer for the work.
Step 6. Either the agency or the employer will be responsible for housing for the temporary workers, as well as for any emergency medical services that may be needed.
Step 7. The temporary worker will be paid by the agency, not by the employer. The agency will bill the employer for all costs and will pay the temporary worker from the money received by the employer. There will be severe penalties for any business or individual who makes a direct payment to a temporary worker or an illegal alien outside of the agency regime.
Step 8. When the temporary work assignment is over there are no more payments made to the temporary worker. The worker is provided transportation back from whence he came. If he elects to try to stay in the country illegally … where’s he going to work? Besides … staying here illegally results in the permanent revocation of his temporary worker card.
Law-abiding citizens and non-citizens alike should rejoice with this plan. Hey, it’s even “comprehensive”, to coin Dubya’s term. It avoids the contentious issue of “the wall”, it implements employer crackdowns, it keeps the foreign leeches from coming in or sticking around, and it satisfies genuine labor demands.
MSM runs intereference for “licenses for illegals” Dem guv
From Newsbusters:
Another liberal Democratic governor has backed off an illegal immigrant-friendly challenge to the new federal Real ID law. Yet in their coverage of Gov. Martin O’Malley’s (D-Md.) reversal, the Baltimore Sun and Washington Post failed to note how drastic the Democratic governor’s reversal was, nor to consider if low polls numbers and public disapproval were driving factors for the change of plans.
Here’s how the Sun’s Timothy B. Wheeler opened his January 16 article:Bowing to federal pressure to crack down on undocumented immigrants, the O’Malley administration announced yesterday that in two years it would begin requiring all driver’s license applicants to present a birth certificate, passport or some other documentation to prove they are legal residents of the United States.
[...]
Maryland is one of a handful of states that do not currently require proof of legal presence in the country before issuing or renewing a driver’s license. Seven states have passed legislation rejecting the federal law, but two of those states recently announced plans to comply, according to John T. Kuo, chief of Maryland’s Motor Vehicle Administration.
Even so, state officials made it clear they were complying reluctantly. Speaking to reporters yesterday, Gov. Martin O’Malley called REAL ID bad policy but said he had agreed to go along to prevent Maryland from becoming a magnet for those unable to get licenses elsewhere. It took Wheeler 11 paragraphs into his story to note that the O’Malley administration was “considering a two-tier approach… in which applicants” that couldn’t prove their legal presence in the United States “would be issued a license.” Of course, Wheeler failed to note how committed the O’Malley adminstration was to the plan.
As Lisa Rein of the Washington Post noted in the January 13 paper, O’Malley’s aides had already started briefing lawmakers on the plan …
Briefing state legislators on the plan seems to suggest that O’Malley was inclined towards the plan as official policy, although he hadn’t made such a public pronouncement, and that he expected to convince the legislature to sign off on funding for it if the trial balloons he was floating were meeting acceptance. …
The headline says it all for the comPost: “Immigrant Driver ID Rejected by O’Malley”. There are two problems with the headline: (1) it’s not true until you put the word “illegal” before immigrant, a fallacy the left is fond of commiting; and (2) how could the guy have “rejected” his own freakin’ plan? He didn’t reject it…he flip-flopped on it!
Nope…no liberal media bias!
McCain booed in Michigan as the amnesty shill that he is
I don’t know if this will hurt him, since polls show a near-tie in Michigan between Johnny Mac and Mitt Romney. But I love the treatment he got nonetheless. From MSNBC:
Sen. John McCain threatened Tuesday to cut short a speech to union leaders who booed his immigration views and later challenged his statements on organized labor and the Iraq war.
“If you like, I will leave,” McCain told the AFL-CIO’s Building and Construction Trades Department, pivoting briefly from the lectern. He returned to the microphone after the crowd quieted.
…
But he took more questions, including a pointed one on his immigration plan.
McCain responded by saying immigrants were taking jobs nobody else wanted. He offered anybody in the crowd $50 an hour to pick lettuce in Arizona.
Shouts of protest rose from the crowd, with some accepting McCain’s job offer.
“I’ll take it!” one man shouted.
McCain insisted none of them would do such menial labor for a complete season. “You can’t do it, my friends.”
Some in the crowd said they didn’t appreciate McCain questioning their work ethic. (Ya think? Now THAT is an effective way to court votes: “Support my criminal alien amnesty plan, because you’re too damned lazy to pick the lettuce yourself for a six-figure salary! Brilliant, Johnny Mac. – Ed.)
Impressed by McCain’s moxie
“I was impressed with his comedy routine and ability to tap dance without music. But I was impressed with nothing else about him,” said John Wasniewski of Milwaukee. “He’s supposed to be Mr. Straight Talk?”
Reap what you sow, Senator Lettuce.
The Hildebeast does some Hispandering in Vegas
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas…even if it’s immigration violation. From the Vegas fishwrap:
Clinton and her busload of traveling press moved from there to the popular local Mexican restaurant Lindo Michoacan, where a “roundtable” that was actually square passed a microphone around to tell her people’s concerns about the mortgage crisis and foreclosures. She took notes and munched on tortilla chips.
…
A man shouted through an opening in the wall that his wife was illegal.
“No woman is illegal,” Clinton said, to cheers.
Really? Does that mean that a man can be illegal, then? Well, slap my sculpted derriere and call me Sally! Her Highness may have just cut the criminal immigration population in half right then and there, all by redefining what is and is not “illegal”! And you thought Bubba was the only Clinton who could bastardize the English language?
Additionally, would this dude’s wife get a driver’s license? I mean, Hellary supposedly is opposed to driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants (unless she’s back to being for them again…after all, it has been a while since anyone asked), right? So if a woman can’t be here illegally, does that mean the woman gets a license but the man does not? Friggin’ wonderful…another female driver on the road! RELAX, MY FEMALE VISITORS…THAT WAS A JOKE!
If Obama had a hair on that sack of his, he’d take this soundbite and run with it. If Her Highness wins the Dem nomination, then the Republican would be well served to run with this soundbite, too.
