President’s proposal to deal with the high gas prices he wanted in the first place? Algae.
Yeah…algae.
Can the Republicans really screw this up in a year when gas will possibly hit $5? You better believe it.
Obama STILL seeing dead people
Remember this?
On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes — and I see many of them in the audience here today — our sense of patriotism is particularly strong.
Telebinky must’ve been broken, because he’s at it again:
…Our men and women in uniform have made us safer and more secure, and we were eternally grateful to them, but war and suffering and hardship still remain in too many corners of the globe. And a lot of those men and women who we celebrate on Veterans Day and Memorial Day come back and find that, when it comes to finding a job or getting the kind of care that they need, we’re not always there the way we need to be.
The men and women we celebrate on Memorial Day don’t come back to get jobs. They died, and that’s why we memorialize them on that day. But I guess when you have a callous disregard for American tradition and its armed forces, such mistakes are to be expected.
Obama’s contraception kerfuffle
Chariman Zero tells those of faith to screw themselves…or, better yet, screw other people and have your contraception covered by society! He’s tried walking it back, but not really. Neal Boortz has a great post about the fraud here, and you should read it (it’s not long). Excerpt:
…All we have to do is present a simple before and after comparison.
Before: Obama’s mandate was that religious institutions had to provide for “free” contraception for all females working for those institutions through the health insurance policies provided to those workers.
After: Now the health insurance companies are simply going to have to provide “free” coverage for contraceptives in all health insurance policies.
Can someone please tell me the difference here? If Caesar Obammus steps forward and mandates that all insurance policies must pay for contraceptives, aren’t those insurance companies simply going to factor the cost of that coverage into the premiums paid by the employers? Doesn’t this mean that these Catholic institutions are still going to be paying for contraceptives?
The church is pushing back. This was a gross miscalculation by Oprompter.
Government dependency spikes under Obama
Or, as Pelosi would say, big time economic “bang for the buck”! Details:
The American public’s dependence on the federal government shot up 23% in just two years under President Obama, with 67 million now relying on some federal program, according to a newly released study by the Heritage Foundation.
The conservative think tank’s annual Index of Dependence on Government tracks money spent on housing, health, welfare, education subsidies and other federal programs that were “traditionally provided to needy people by local organizations and families.”
The increase under Obama is the biggest two-year jump since Jimmy Carter was president, the data show.
The rise was driven mainly by increases in housing subsidies, an expansion in Medicaid and changes to the welfare system, along with a sharp rise in food stamps, the study found. …
For those of you on the left, government dependence is a bad thing!
Numbers are racist. Or something.
Obama spokestool: People leaving the workforce is good for the economy
Just so you can understand Liberalese: “unemployment” is bad, but “not working” is good. Got it?
Just when I thought there couldn’t be a bigger fool than Gibbsy, Carney proves me wrong. Observe:
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney explained that the number of people dropping out of the work force, which artificially depresses the unemployment rate, can be regarded as an “economic positive.”
“A large percentage of that is due to younger people getting more education, which in the end is an economic positive,” Carney said. “This increase in the number of people leaving the work force has been a trend and a fact since 2000, because of an aging population, which is not to say this is wholly — that’s not to say that I would wholly disregard as an issue.” Carney had been asked about the 19 million underemployed or unemployed Americans, and about people who had left the work force.
Ah, I see. People going to college and racking up massive amounts of student loan debt (which they later march, drum, and push old ladies down steps over having to repay) while earning degrees in such incredibly useful and productive subjects like Women’s Studies or Sanskrit is a net positive for the economy. Got it. Thanks for the clarification.
Anywho, continuing:
“I think some of those who, I suppose, don’t wish us well politically have tried to make a point about this,” he also said. “The facts are that in these most recent numbers, this is not an issue of people leaving the work force; the numbers are positive across the board.”
“This is not an issue of people leaving the work force”? Um, yeah…it is.
So how is the labor force participation rate looking today?
At 64 percent, it is well below the peak of 67 percent during the dotcom bubble, and significantly below the steady state of 66 percent we saw during the 2000s. Given the Baby Boom retirement and other demographic shifts, CBO projections expected it to be declining – 65.3 percent at the beginning of 2012. We are now 1.3 percentage points below that demographic estimate, the equivalent of 3.2 million “missing” workers. If the “missing” people were in the labor force, the unemployment rate today would be 10.4 percent, not the current 8.5 percent.
Look at it this way: if a hospital loses a number of sick people because they died, they could claim the drop in sick patients as a “net positive” for their hospital, right?
Night and Day, “Obama and SuperPAC’s” edition
We all remember what a classless jackwagon Chairman Douchebag was when he slammed the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision at his SOTU address last year, with sitting justices present. It seems El Douché wasn’t a big fan of certain forms of political speech.
Well, what a difference a SuperPAC makes, eh?
President Barack Obama’s campaign is asking top fundraisers to support a Democratic-leaning outside group that is backing the president’s re-election bid, reversing Obama’s opposition to “super” political action committees, which can spend unlimited amounts of cash to influence elections.
Obama’s campaign urged wealthy fundraisers in a Monday night conference call to support Priorities USA, a super PAC led by two former Obama aides that has struggled to compete with the tens of millions of dollars collected by Republican-backed outside groups.
Obama has opposed the Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United decision that stripped away some limits on campaign contributions. The new super PACs can’t coordinate directly with campaigns, but many have played a major role in the Republican primary contests, raising millions of dollars to use in negative advertising in early contests such as Iowa, South Carolina and Florida.
Obama campaign manager Jim Messina said in an email to supporters Monday that the president’s campaign “can’t allow for two sets of rules” in which the Republican presidential nominee benefits from “unlimited spending and Democrats unilaterally disarm.”
“We decided to do this because we can’t afford for the work you’re doing in your communities, and the grassroots donations you give to support it, to be destroyed by hundreds of millions of dollars in negative ads,” Messina said.
…
Republicans criticized the Obama campaign’s embrace of the outside groups, calling it a hypocritical shift by Obama after he chided the influence of secret, special-interest money. Obama has previously referred to the money as a “threat to our democracy.”
“This is a brazenly cynical move by Barack Obama and his political handlers, who just a year ago had the chutzpah to call outside groups a threat to democracy,” said Jonathan Collegio, a spokesman for American Crossroads.
“A threat to democracy” in ObaMao’s mind means “the possibility I may not be re-elected”!
Don’t get me wrong: I think it’s perfectly legal for him to use SuperPAC’s, especially after the SCOTUS gave the greenlight to them. But it is the epitome of disingenuousness, hypocrisy, and immorality for the man-child to use a form of campaigning that his petulant authoritarian behind was lambasting very recently. Scruples, schmuples, he gots a campaign to run!
Reuters sees great news in new unemployment numbers; realists, not so much
al-Reuters goes to bat for their boy:
Job growth surges, jobless rate near 3-year low
The economy created jobs at the fastest pace in nine months in January and the unemployment rate unexpectedly dropped to a near three-year low, giving a boost to President Barack Obama as campaigning heats up ahead of November elections.
Hey, that’s awesome news! Except for the fact that it isn’t:
A month ago, we joked when we said that for Obama to get the unemployment rate to negative by election time, all he has to do is to crush the labor force participation rate to about 55%. Looks like the good folks at the BLS heard us: it appears that the people not in the labor force exploded by an unprecedented record 1.2 million. No, that’s not a typo: 1.2 million people dropped out of the labor force in one month! So as the labor force increased from 153.9 million to 154.4 million, the non institutional population increased by 242.3 million meaning, those not in the labor force surged from 86.7 million to 87.9 million. Which means that the civilian labor force tumbled to a fresh 30 year low of 63.7% as the BLS is seriously planning on eliminating nearly half of the available labor pool from the unemployment calculation. …
Again, when people stop looking for work because the economy sucks way too bad to be producing jobs at the levels needed to perpetuate a recovery, those people simply aren’t counted against the unemployed. A hospital has a certain number of sick people, but when some of those sick people die, you don’t exactly see the hospital celebrating the drop in the number of sick people there, now do you?
Expect more stories like this: Chairman fiddles while the USA smolders, and the MSM is dutifully doing its part in this election year to get ObaMao re-elected.
Obama in SOTU: We partnered with private sector for electric car batteries. “Partner”: We’re filing for bankruptcy.
And ObaMao’s Reverse Midas touch continues:
An Indiana-based energy storage company that received a $118.5 million stimulus-law grant from the Energy Department filed for bankruptcy Thursday.
Ener1 is asking a federal bankruptcy court in New York to approve a plan to restructure the company’s debt and infuse $81 million in equity funding. …
The Energy Department, in 2009, approved a $118.5 million stimulus-law grant for EnerDel, a subsidiary of the company that develops lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles. The grant was part of a broader program aimed at promoting the development of electric-vehicle battery technology.
President Obama touted the program in his State of the Union address this year.
“In three years, our partnership with the private sector has already positioned America to be the world’s leading manufacturer of high-tech batteries,” he said.
The company is now trading for $0.02 per share. That’s our money, going down the crapper for more “green energy” boondoggles.
Please get this jack#ss out in November…we can’t afford four more years of this idiocy.
President “Fair Share” not exactly holding his office to the same standards as his lofty rhetoric
Geez, what is it with the Obaminions skipping out on their taxes? Did they all use Turbo Tax? Details:
A new report just out from the Internal Revenue Service reveals that 36 of President Obama’s executive office staff owe the country $833,970 in back taxes. These people working for Mr. Fair Share apparently haven’t paid any share, let alone their fair share.
Previous reports have shown how well-paid Obama’s White House staff is, with 457 aides pulling down more than $37 million last year. That’s up seven workers and nearly $4 million from the Bush administration’s last year.
Nearly one-third of Obama’s aides make more than $100,000 with 21 being paid the top White House salary of $172,200, each.
The IRS’ 2010 delinquent tax revelations come as part of a required annual agency report on federal employees’ tax compliance. Turns out, an awful lot of folks being paid by taxpayers are not paying their own income taxes.
Why, it’s as if the left has a “good enough for thee, but not for me” mentality or something!
Obama promotes tourism by disrupting it
Hey, Mr. President! You’ve just destroyed the Keystone XL pipeline project and thousands of new union jobs. What are you gonna do now?
“I’m going to Disney World.”
No, it’s not another Obama vacation. He’s flying Air Force One down to Orlando this morning on business.
His people say the Democrat has some new ideas on how to increase tourism to Florida and probably the entire 57 states (Heh! – CL) . Naturally, this requires another Obama speech.
And what better place for a campaigning president to go lecture needlessly on improving tourism than the iconic institution that figured it all out decades ago, Walt Disney Resorts?
But here’s the problem with Obama going to Disney’s Main Street: They have to halt all tourism there for him to be seen encouraging more tourism, close the whole place down to tourists for much of the day while he’s there and before. Even Disney employees are being barred.
Seems appropriate that he’s giving us his recipe for economic success in Fantasyland, no?
King Obama: Screw the Constitution, I’m making recess appointments in direct violation of Article II Section II!
What is Article II Section II of the Constitution?
The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.
Presidents from both parties have historically used recess appointments…when the Senate is in recess! That’s kinda sorta, in a roundabout way, what a recess appointment is.
Well…the current Senate is not in recess. Yet Chairman Zero says “I don’t care to see it that way”, and so he has intentionally violated the Constitution he has sworn to uphold. Again. The man-child rules by fiat. He appointed his Consumer Financial Protection Bureau head, anti-business Richard Cordray, yesterday. His justification?
The Senate has effectively been in recess for weeks, and is expected to remain in recess for weeks.
Um…it IS NOT in recess. I missed the part in the Constitution where “effectively in recess” was located. If someone could point me to that, I’d appreciate it.
He didn’t stop with Cordray, though. He “recess” appointed three NLRB appointees, too.
Notes Leon Wolf:
Consider the astonishing timeline here – Obama submitted the names of his proposed appointments two weeks ago - two weeks ago - there has been no filibuster of the appointments; there hasn’t even been a cloture vote scheduled. The Senate hasn’t taken any action one way or another because there’s this holiday that happens in the last two weeks of December that some Americans celebrate, but Reid has kept the Senate in pro forma session, including regular meetings, to preserve the Senate’s prerogative to advise and consent on Obama’s nominees, as it is absolutely and beyond caveat the Senate’s prerogative to do. Thus, despite the fact that the Senate isn’t even dragging its feet on these appointments, and despite the fact that the Senate has been adamant that it is not in recess, Obama has arrogated to himself the power to declare the Senate in recess for them and short circuit the entire Constitutional process for Senate confirmation of Constitutional officers.
In other words, Reid allowed this Senate to be in a pro forma session.
So then Harry Reid, the man who said in 2007 that he was keeping the Senate in a pro forma session to prevent Bush’s recess appointments (and Bush respected the Constitution enough not to fight Reid), definitely has a problem with what B.O. is doing now, right?
Yeah, right:
“I support President Obama’s decision,” he [Reid] said in a statement.
Obama just made Reid and the other Senate Democrats his b#tch, and Reid is totally cool with that. Of course, he’s been polishing B.O.’s putz for three years, so why stop now?
ObaMao is doing this for two reasons: (1) He has nothing but contempt for the Constitution; (2) he wants a fight with Republicans in Congress in an election year. You know, so he can run on “Those evil Republicans are wanting to screw consumers in favor of big business, and they’re trying to use a ‘legal technicality’!” The MSM will, naturally, carry his water, ignoring all Constitutional constraints.
Is this really the road Democrats want to take? Next year, Republicans will control the Senate, and likely the White House. So the Dems want to use this club over Republican heads for less than a year while opening up the door for 4+ years of Republicans doing the same thing to them? Really?
Hopenchange: 2011 closes with debt-to-GDP ratio OVER 100%
Boy, Obamanomics sure is working, huh? Details:
While not news to Zero Hedge readers who knew about the final debt settlement of US debt about 10 days ahead of schedule, it is now official: according to the US Treasury, America has closed the books on 2011 with debt at an all time record $15,222,940,045,451.09. And, as was observed here first in all of the press, US debt to GDP is now officially over 100%, or 100.3% to be specific, a fact which the US government decided to delay exposing until the very end of the calendar year. We wonder, rhetorically, just how prominent of a talking point this historic event will be in any upcoming GOP primary debates. And yes, technically this number is greater than the debt ceiling but it excludes various accounting gimmicks. When accounting for those, the US has a debt ceiling buffer of… $14 billion, or one third the size of a typical bond auction.
Everything this economic ignoramus touches turns to crap. But hey, he is sure is smoov talkin’ wit da Telebinky, so let’s allow him to “finish the job” (his words) of destroying the America he loathes.
New ad acknowledges Obama’s claim to be the 4th best president in our nation’s history
Remember B.O.’s absurd claim that his “accomplishments” rank him right up there with Abe Lincoln, as if jamming ObamaCare down the throats of America to the point where his party got “shellacked” were more impressive than Abe’s salvaging the republic? Well, American Crossroads gives ObaMao the recognition that he deserves, and in a snarky fashion.
NYT calls for the head of the Attorney General
Wow…who would have thought that the leftist rag would demand the resignation/firing of the Attorney General of the United States? I guess the offense was just that horrible! Excerpt:
It (the administration) has offered up implausible excuses, hidden the most damaging evidence and feigned memory lapses, while hoping that the public’s attention moves on. But this scandal is too important for the public or Congress to move on. This story should not end until Attorney General [redacted - CL] is gone, and the serious damage that has been done to the Justice Department is repaired.
Kudos to the NYT for demanding that the integrity of the office of the AG and the Department of Justice be preserved! I guess Operation Fast & Furious, a botched federal government operation which resulted in our government arming Mexican drug lords who, in turn, killed Border Patrol agent Brian Terry PLUS 300+ Mexicans, was just so egregious that even the liberal apologists at the Old Gray Hag couldn’t defend USAG Eric Holder over it.
Hmm? What’s that? The NYT column isn’t talking about Holder or Fast & Furious?
Oh, wait. That’s right! My bad. The column was demanding the head of Bush’s AG Alberto Gonzales on a silver platter for the far more disgusting crime of…firing U.S. Attorneys who serve at the pleasure of the administration.
No, as it turns out, the NYT is allowing Holder and the administration to get their talking points out about Fast & Furious. Naturally and predictably, Holder whips out the race card, and the NYT is more than happy to accommodate Holder.
But Mr. Holder contended that many of his other critics — not only elected Republicans but also a broader universe of conservative commentators and bloggers — were instead playing “Washington gotcha” games, portraying them as frequently “conflating things, conveniently leaving some stuff out, construing things to make it seem not quite what it was” to paint him and other department figures in the worst possible light.
Of that group of critics, Mr. Holder said he believed that a few — the “more extreme segment” — were motivated by animus against Mr. Obama and that he served as a stand-in for him. “This is a way to get at the president because of the way I can be identified with him,” he said, “both due to the nature of our relationship and, you know, the fact that we’re both African-American.”
From Big Journalism:
Conflating things? How do we “conflate things” when we provide the documents PROVING our points? Plus if we are leaving out things it’s because Mr. Holder and the Department of Justice aren’t providing us with all the details.
…
How about members of the Congressional Black Caucus Mr. Holder and Mr. Savage? As Mr. Boyle and Michelle Fields report the feeling in the caucus is that the congressional investigation is warranted. So do they feel this way because Mr. Holder is an African American? Are they racists against their own race?
To recap: Republican A.G. fires US Attorneys (within his job duty), and the NYT demands he lose his job. But Democrat A.G. arms a Mexican drug cartel and gets over 300 people killed, including federal border patrol agent Brian Terry (whose name the NYT can’t bother themselves to mention), and the NYT yawns disinterestedly and allows unfounded accusations of racism and sensationalism to go unchecked. Because proof is racist, or something.
Nope…no liberal media bias!
Obama: Only a couple of presidents have done more good than I have
His douchebaggery merges with his narcissism. Money quote (video at link):
In his latest interview with CBS News’s Steve Kroft, President Obama said “I would put our legislative and foreign policy accomplishments in our first two years against any president — with the possible exceptions of Johnson, F.D.R., and Lincoln — just in terms of what we’ve gotten done in modern history.” CBS edited the statement out of the televised version of the interview.
How helpful of CBS! They create proof where there is none if it advances their agenda (see Memogate 2004). They erase proof if it advances their agenda (this is but one of a bazillion instances). Nope…no liberal media bias!
What an a-hole! This country needs this egomaniac out of office ASAP so our republic can begin to heal from his and his party’s moonbattery-induced damage.
Night and Day, “Obama channels his inner John Kerry” edition
B.O. on 60 Minutes on Sunday:
Kroft: Did you overpromise? Did you underestimate how difficult this was gonna be?
Obama: I didn’t overpromise. And I didn’t underestimate how tough this was gonna be.
B.O. two days later:
President Barack Obama said Tuesday he wishes he knew the full extent of the economic crisis when he took office, if only so he could have let Americans know just how tough the coming years would be.
“I think we understood that it was bad, but we didn’t know how bad it was,” Obama said in an interview with KIRO in Seattle.
He actually did know how bad it was…before he didn’t.
Why the Obama stimulus was a massive failure
Observe:
Sums Tina Korbe:
Theoretically, for the stimulus to have worked, the government would have had to target idle resources. Instead, the government funneled money into already-existing government contracts. Similarly, for the stimulus to have worked, state leaders would have had to spend stimulus money on top of what they were already spending. All too often, they used stimulus dollars to cover general expenses rather than to increase overall spending.
Takeaway line from video: “The main lesson of the stimulus is creating jobs is a very complex process and, certainly, it can’t be directed by a top-down institution that pretty much fails at everything it does”.
Obama: You know what creates more jobs that jobs do? Jobless benefits, that’s what!
ObaMao addresses the bitter clingers in PA:
President Obama said that he will delay his vacation and keep Congress in session until the passage of his desired payroll tax cut and unemployment benefits extension — two proposals that Obama said would create more jobs than the Keystone XL pipeline that his administration recently delayed.
“I would not ask anyone to do something I’m not willing to do myself,” Obama said when asked if he would go on vacation while keeping Congress in Washington D.C. “We are going to stay here as long as it takes [to get unemployment extended and pass the payroll tax cut].”
As Obama called for passage of those bills, he also responded to a recent Republican push to require him to approve the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada. “However many jobs might be generated by a Keystone pipeline,” he said, “they’re going to be a lot fewer than the jobs that are created by extending the payroll tax cut and extending unemployment insurance.”
Uh…whiskey tango foxtrot?
You’ve got a project that will actually create jobs, and this economic ‘tard is claiming that giving people money NOT to work, and extending tax cuts to people who are ALREADY at work, is going to create more than the zero jobs we know that it will?
Wow…just friggin’ “Wow!”
Obama lets his communist leanings show loudly and clearly
One of the things I’ve detested about the left and the MSM (pardon the redundancy) since BHO decided to run for president was their insistence that their boy was a “centrist” or “center-left” guy. He was raised by an anti-American Muslim father (for a while) and an anti-American socialist mother, indoctrinated with anti-American propaganda at his madrassas and in college by Marxist professors, associated with the New Party (communist, Google it), bombarded with anti-American socialist vitriol in Jeremiah Wright’s church for over two decades, palling around with anti-American left-wing terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, and best buds with his most frequent White House visitor Andy Stern (former SEIU chief).
Yet the left would have us believe that despite incubating in such an anti-American leftist cesspool, BHO was immune to all of the effects one would expect from someone with such a background. If you lie with dogs, you get fleas…unless you’re Obama, in which case you’re immune from fleas.
Last week, Stern wrote a column telling Americans that our capitalist model was a failure and needed to be shaped to match the Chicom model. Stern was one of many union bosses who have openly espoused communist…er, “pro-worker”…sentiments. When you listen to their rhetoric, it sounds exactly like something you would have heard from Lenin, Chavez, Castro, et al. It’s official: unions are nothing more than commie front groups. Period. The science is settled.
Oh, but I forgot: Just because ObaMao is best buds with Stern, Hoffa, et al, does NOT mean he shares their communist sensibilities. To think otherwise is crazy. I mean, aside from a rare moment of honesty with Joe the Plumber, when has BHO ever advocated anything other than a capitalist model?
Now. The answer to the prior question is now. In Kansas, no less. Here’s what he had to say about capitalism:
“It’s a simple theory — one that speaks to our rugged individualism and healthy skepticism of too much government. It fits well on a bumper sticker. Here’s the problem: It doesn’t work,” Obama said of supply-side economics, drawing extended applause. “It’s never worked.”
Oh, sure, some would argue that he wasn’t talking about capitalism per se, but of supply-side economics. Folks, that is a distinction without a difference. As Ace rightly notes:
He says “trickle-down economics” rather than capitalism, but “trickle-down economics” is merely an argument in favor of capitalism. There is no such thing as “trickle-down economics.” There is capitalism, and the argued advantage of it, which is the trickling down of created wealth.
…
…But Europe is probably going to plunge into something in between a recession or a depression, and may erupt in violence and political disorder. And Europe is Obama’s lodestar. That’s where he wants to take us. To the extent we haven’t gotten there yet, it’s because Americans are soft, lazy bitter clingers who hate other sorts of people (and their politico-economic systems).
So Europe’s 60 or 70 year history with socialism is about to end in violent upheavals and misery… and here’s this ignoramus saying that it’s capitalism which is the proven failure.
As an intemperate interjection, might I note that if, by “never worked”, the organizer-in-chief means “increased government revenues every time”, then yeah, “never worked.” If, by “never worked”, he means the creation of 16 million new jobs, then he’s right…”never worked”.
But that’s not what he means. Those aren’t benefits…not to the people he seeks to please. No, by “never worked”, he means “it has never taken more money from the producers and funded the non-producers’ chosen lifestyles of lethargy and dependence in perpetuity.” That’s what he means. See, when 16 million new jobs were created, you had to be handicapped or lazy to not get a job, because they were everywhere. Every time supply side economics has been tried, the economy has picked back up, jobs have been created, and revenues to the government have increased as a result of more people working and paying income taxes (and not on public dependence). But to ObaMao, public dependence is a feature, NOT a bug!
The son of a motherless goat is a commie. He’s had it pounded into his head since he was a fetus (that, luckily for him, escaped medical procedures that he endorses, to the point of infanticide). No amount of results will shake his belief that it is communism, and not capitalism, that has failed every time. He just knows it will be different this time…it’s got to be! (Sidebar: I know that communism and socialism aren’t exactly the same thing. But the differences are not great, so as far as I’m concerned, for the sake of B.O.’s leftist leanings, they’re the same thing.)
For the sake of the republic, this #sshat must be removed from office in next year’s election. This country cannot survive eight years of Obamunism.
Obama: Al Gore’s invention responsible for job losses
Well, at least he didn’t double down on his “ATMs are costing us jobs” nonsense. Oh, wait…
“Layoffs too often became permanent, not part of the business cycle. And these changes didn’t just affect blue collar workers. If you were a bank teller or a phone operator or a travel agent, you saw many in your profession replaced by ATMs and the internet,” President Obama said at a campaign event in Kansas.
Video at link.
I’ve been accessing money via ATMs for over 20 years, and for most of that time, unemployment was pretty low. We’ve been using the Internet on a widespread basis for about the last 15+ years, and for most of that time, unemployment was pretty low. You know, it’s almost as if he’s got not friggin’ clue what he’s doing and what he’s talking about…almost, that is.
Congressional hopeful tries to tie his would-be opponent to Obama
The delicious hilarity of this turn of events? The Democrat is trying to tie the Republican to Obama! Details:
Here’s a telling sign of how much President Obama’s fortunes have changed since 2008 — a leading Democratic Congressional recruit is now attacking a Republican congressman for supporting the president.
Former Ohio Democratic congressman Charlie Wilson, who was attacked relentlessly for being too close with President Obama in last year’s losing campaign, kicked off his comeback bid today by accusing his Republican rival of the same sin.
Wilson, who represented a rural, blue-collar district along the Ohio River, is seeking a rematch against freshman Rep. Bill Johnson, R-Ohio. In his successful 2010 campaign, Johnson effectively characterized Wilson as a lackey of national Democrats, blasting him for casting a critical vote for Obama’s health care law and the stimulus. …
How awesome is it that B.O. is so massively unpopular that Democrats are not only running from him faster than Barney Frank from a Hooters restaurant, but now they’re actually running on “Vote for me, because unlike my Republican opponent, I won’t be tied to Obama”?
Wilson, you voted for ObamaCare, in direct opposition to the wishes of your constituents. You obviously thought they were too stupid to know what was good for them, so you voted for ObamaCare against their wishes. Apparently, you still think they’re stupid, if you think this absurd trick will work.
Obama: Congress shouldn’t leave until they pass the payroll tax cut; now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to Hawaii for 17 days!
B.O. thinks some people ought to do their jobs…just not him. From The Hill:
Congress needs to pass an extension to the payroll tax cut and shouldn’t adjourn until they do, President Obama said in his weekly address.
“Both parties came together to cut payroll taxes for the typical middle-class family by about $1,000, but that tax cut is set to expire at the end of this month,” Obama said. “We can’t let that happen.”
…
“We’re going to keep pushing Congress to make this happen,” Obama said. “They shouldn’t go home for the holidays until they get this done.”
While most Americans are lucky to get a few weeks of holiday every year, it seems the country’s leader gets a little more freedom in the matter.
President Barack Obama has announced his Christmas vacation to Hawaii – for a staggering 17-day trip.
Obama, who visited the island just two weeks ago for an economic summit, will head to Honolulu on Saturday December 17 until Monday January 2.
Presidentin’: Nice work if you can get it.
Obama = Carter, “malazy”
Love it!
Newt dishes red meat, disses Obama, gives yours truly a thrill up the leg
I might have been exaggerating about the leg thrill…but not by much! Here’s a brief clip of Newt dressing down Oba-Mao. Dude!
Obama kisses up to Occupy hecklers
President Obama hugs an increasingly unpopular, vulgar, and lawless movement. The Hill reports that after President Obama was heckled by protesters at an event in New Hampshire, he said:
“I appreciate you guys making your point; let me go ahead and make mine,” Obama said before continuing his speech. “I’ll listen to you, you listen to me, OK?”
A few minutes later, Obama acknowledged the Occupy protest movement again, saying: “You are the reason I ran for office.”
I guess he ran for public office to guarantee that lice- and flea-infested unemployable socialist miscreants who rape, defecate in public, threaten to firebomb Macy’s, and push old ladies down stairs need a proper advocate. He cheerfully lets them know that he’s their guy.
Obama indicts himself and his policies by invoking Hoover
From the Historian In Chief:
So this competition for new jobs and businesses and middle-class security, that’s the race I know we can win. But you don’t win it by saying every American is on their own. We’re not going to win it if we just hand out more tax cuts to people who don’t need them, let companies play by their own rules without any restriction, and we just hope somehow that the success of the wealthiest few translates in the prosperity for everybody else.
We have tried that, by the way. We tried it for 10 years. It’s part of what got into the mess that we’re in. It doesn’t work. It didn’t work for Herbert Hoover, when it was called trickle-down economics during the Depression. It didn’t work between 2000 and 2008, and it won’t work today.
There’s just one problem with that…it’s not even remotely true.
Obama is dead wrong. Data from the White House’s own website shows that Hoover increased, rather than cut, spending in the Great Depression, and ran up deficits that were huge by historical standards.
As Ed points out, “Hoover’s spending policies look a lot like Obama’s.” Hoovermania: Catch the fee-vuh!
President allegedly obsessed with job creation just killed 200,000+ jobs
No other way to polish that turd, liberals. Details:
President Obama’s United States Department of Agriculture has delayed shale gas drilling in Ohio for up to six months by cancelling a mineral lease auction for Wayne National Forest (WNF). The move was taken in deference to environmentalists, on the pretext of studying the effects of hydraulic fracturing.
“Conditions have changed since the 2006 Forest Plan was developed,” announced WNF Supervisor Anne Carey on Tuesday. “The technology used in the Utica & Marcellus Shale formations need to be studied to see if potential effects to the surface are significantly different than those identified in the Forest Plan.” The study will take up to six months to complete. The WNF study reportedly “will focus solely on how it could affect forest land,” despite the significance of hydraulic fracturing to united proponents of the delay, “and not how it could affect groundwater.”
…
“The President’s plan is to simply say ‘no’ to new energy production,” House Natural Resources Committee chairman Doc Hastings, R-Wash, said to Interior Secretary Ken Salazar during a hearing pertaining to hydraulic fracturing. “It’s a plan that is sending American jobs overseas, forfeiting new revenue, and denying access to American energy that would lessen our dependence on hostile Middle Eastern oil.” …
Gotta keep the treehuggers happy, right? Sure, it keeps the eocnomy in the crapper and keeps us just as dependent on foreign energy sources. But hey, at least the environuts are pleased, right?
Yet another “Solyndra” for Obama
This is what happens when government picks winners and losers from the private sector. Actually, with B.O.’s track record, has he even picked any actual winners?
Beacon Power, a Massachusetts-based company that won praise from renewable power activists and loan guarantees from the federal government, has filed for bankruptcy, potentially leaving taxpayers on the hook for $43 million.
The company, which promised to build storage devices for intermittent power produced by wind and solar power facilities, was never able to attract investors. Coming on the heels of the Solyndra bankruptcy and ensuing scandal, the Beacon Power bankruptcy has a growing number of people calling for an end to federal loan guarantees for risky alternative energy start-ups.
No word yet on whether or not there were any political connections involved in this one, or if this was just another in a long list of stunning and expensive failures of the administration.
Solyndra scandal beginning to enlarge
Despite many in the MSM’s attempts to wish the scandal away, a number of media outlets are engaging in random acts of journalism.
Today, the House will engage the hopelessly corrupt administration’s Energy Dept. head, Stephen Chu, about why the taxpayers are on the hook for a half a billion when the signs were there that this was a money pit.
Energy Secretary Steven Chu is prepared to say he made the final decisions on a half-billion-dollar loan to a California solar company that later went bankrupt, essentially taking responsibility for a debacle that has embarrassed the Obama administration.
Chu, in testimony prepared for delivery Thursday to a House committee, claimed he made all decisions on Solyndra Inc. with the best interests of the taxpayer in mind.
“I want to be clear: Over the course of Solyndra’s loan guarantee, I did not make any decision based on political considerations,” Chu said in testimony prepared for the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
Yeah, where would you get the crazy idea that there were any “political considerations” involved? Oh, I dunno…
The Obama administration, which gave the solar company Solyndra a half-billion-dollar loan to help create jobs, asked the company to delay announcing it would lay off workers until after the hotly contested November 2010 midterm elections that imperiled Democratic control of Congress, newly released e-mails show.
The announcement could have been politically damaging because President Obama and others in the administration had held up Solyndra as a poster child of its clean-energy initiative, saying the company’s new factory, built with the help of stimulus money, could create 1,000 jobs. Six months before the midterm elections, Obama visited Solyndra’s California plant to praise its success, even though outside auditors had questioned whether the operation might collapse in debt.
As the contentious 2010 elections approached, Solyndra found itself foundering, and it warned the Energy Department that it would need an emergency cash infusion. A Solyndra investment adviser wrote in an Oct. 30, 2010, e-mail — without explaining the reason — that Energy Department officials were pushing “very hard” to delay making the layoffs public until the day after the elections.
The announcement ultimately was made on Nov. 3, 2010 — immediately following the Nov. 2 vote.
Yeah, well, I’m just some wingnut who always reads political motives into every Chicagoland thug politician’s decisions! I mean, no one else thinks there were any “political considerations” involved, right? Yeah, right:
In the two years preceding its collapse, Solyndra and its biggest investor aggressively asserted themselves in dealings with the Obama administration, pushing Energy Secretary Steven Chu to visit the company’s headquarters to help it raise private money and later suggesting it would file for bankruptcy if the Energy Department rejected its proposed rescue plan.
Executives associated with the California solar panel company also privately described Energy Department officials as more concerned with appearances than with sound business decisions. (Considering the Marxists in this administration have never run so much as a hot dog stand, how in the Sam Hill would they know a sound business decision if it bit them in their leftist backsides? – CL)
“The DOE really thinks politically before it thinks economically,” a Solyndra board member wrote in December to George Kaiser, an Obama fundraiser whose family funds owned a third of the company.
At another point, an investment adviser to Kaiser wrote in an e-mail: “DOE is willing to accommodate Solyndra . . . but they appear to be concerned about ‘looking bad.’ ”
So even Solyndra knew that this regime placed politics and appearance before practicality and propriety.
Let’s face it: this was another boneheaded AND corrupt example of crony capitalism by the administration. There isn’t a single honest official in this administration, and it starts at the top. The sooner we repeal Obama in November of 2012, the sooner this nation can begin to heal from the deep wounds he has intentionally inflicted on a country he regards so very little.
