Liberalism: Why think when you can “feel”?

Quote of the day, “sad pathetic California loser” edition

I do pray that leeches like this don’t get near a ballot box, ever again.  Money quote from an article about the failure of the so-called “Super Committee”:

“I think the whole situation is nutty,” said Jan O’Connell, a 47-year-old artist from Los Angeles. “Somebody’s got to save us, and if the government can’t, who can?

Ho. Ly. Shiite.

I’ve got a radical idea.  How about you fend for yourself and stop depending on the government to “save” you?

Maxine Waters about criminal element at Occupy sites: “That’s life, and it happens!”

I guess that ethics investigation into The Socialist Queen isn’t going anywhere?  Must not be, for her to continue parroting stupidity like this with impunity:

When asked to comment Wednesday about the deaths and crimes that have occurred around Occupy protests being held across the country, Rep. Maxine Waters said “that’s life and it happens.”

“That’s a distraction from the goals of the protesters,” Waters, who says she supports the Occupy movement, told CNSNews.com after an event at the Capitol sponsored by the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

Video and full comment at the link, so don’t take my word for it.

Yeah, Maxy.  Let’s take a look at just a couple of things that “happen” at Occupy sites:

The Associated Press reported that there have been at least three deaths recently at or near Occupy encampments. A man was shot and killed near the scene of the Occupy camp in Oakland, Calif. A man reportedly shot himself at the Occupy camp in Burlington, Vt. And a man was discovered dead in a tent at the Salt Lake City, Utah, Occupy camp.

At the Occupy L.A. site—in the city where Rep. Waters’ congressional district is located—five people have been charged with crimes, according to the Los Angeles Times. These include a man who allegedly exposed himself and masturbated in the presence of children.

Hmmm.  So exposing yourself to kids and playing “tug-of-war with the cyclops” is all part and parcel of the Occupy movement?  OK, got it.  Thanks for the clarification, Max.

This is the same woman who said “As far as I’m concerned, the ‘Tea Party’ can go straight to hell.”  I’d say that since there haven’t been ANY arrests at Tea Party events, and since no Tea Partiers of which I’ve heard have killed anyone or dropped trow in front of children, I’d say that the Occupiers are a better representative of Hell than anyone on the right.

You’d think that a guy born in Hawaii and making a big speech in Hawaii would know that it was one of the 57 states, and not located in Asia.  Guess not.  Man, that telebinky has been malfunctioning a lot lately, huh?

Democrat mayor in California to veterans: Screw you, the Occupiers are more important!

But hey, where would you get the crazy idea that the left doesn’t support the troops?  From Californiastan:

The mayor of Richmond, Calif., is under fire for her decision to skip a Veterans Day memorial to attend an Occupy Rally.

Mayor Gayle McLaughlin sent an email to the San Jose Mercury News explaining why she would not be attending a Veterans Day salute that included a re-enactment of the launch of a World War II-era ship at the Richmond shipyards.

“I choose to honor our veterans, not only on Veteran’s Day, but daily, but supporting an end to military warfare to prevent further fighting and dying in needless wars,” she wrote. “I am a strong supporter of Veterans for Peace and Iraq Vets Against the War.”

The mayor said that since the city is not sponsoring the Veterans Day salute, she chose to attend an Occupy rally – an event that she has been actively promoting.

The left is reflexively anti-military.  It’s in their DNA.

Obama to tax Christmas trees in order to promote Christmas trees

Satire?  Uh…no.  It’s for real.

President Obama’s Agriculture Department today announced that it will impose a new 15-cent charge on all fresh Christmas trees—the Christmas Tree Tax—to support a new Federal program to improve the image and marketing of Christmas trees.

Right.  Because Christmas is so underappreciated and undercommercialized!

H3ll, I’ve been hearing Christmas music and seeing Christmas trees since November 1.  What, is the Obamanation wanting to ensure that I start hearing Silver Bells and seeing wreaths in July so that Christmas is duly promoted?

Exit question:  Did Congress cede the power of taxation to the Ag Department and I just didn’t get the memo?

Occupy vermin throw bodily fluids, level death threats at vendors who aren’t providing free stuff anymore

Remember, folks: this is the 99%.  Details from San Diego:

A pair of Southland street cart vendors who were forced to shut down their businesses after “Occupy” protesters vandalized their carts are hoping to get some help from local residents.

KNX 1070′s Tom Reopelle reports a fundraiser in the Gas Lamp district in San Diego on Monday night is aimed at helping two vendors get back on their feet.

Coffee cart owner Linda Jenson and hot dog cart operators Letty and Pete Soto said they initially provided free food and drink to demonstrators, but when they stopped, the protesters became violent.

And according to one city councilman, bodily fluids were used in the attacks.

“Both carts have had items stolen, have had their covers vandalized with markings and graffiti, as well as one of the carts had urine and blood splattered on it,” said Councilman Carl DeMaio.

The damages will likely require at least a complete cleaning if not a replacement of the cart covers, DeMaio said.

In addition to the attacks, the vendors also said they recently received death threats.

At least these cretins didn’t push an old lady down a flight of stairs like they did in DC.

But hey, where would you get the crazy idea that the Occupiers are a bunch of dirty, smelly, violent hippies who are just looking for handouts?

Exit question: Remember when the Tea Partiers threw blood and urine at people, and leveled death threats, and pushed old ladies down flights of stairs, and defecated on police cars and people’s doorsteps, and had sex in the streets, and needed to be fumigated for lice?  Remember all that?  Me neither.

Alleged Christian president: God wants my jobs bill passed, or something

I’m guessing he learned this in Rev. Wright’s coop, since he hasn’t stepped foot in a church in D.C. since getting elected three years ago.  Anywho, the galling quote:

Urging Congress again to pass a portion of his jobs bill, President Obama claimed Wednesday that God is on his side.

Mr. Obama was standing at the D.C. side of the Key Bridge, calling attention to America’s crumbling infrastructure and the need to put more construction workers back on the job. He criticized House Republicans for ignoring his legislation while approving a measure that reaffirms “In God We Trust” as the national motto.

“That’s not putting people back to work,” Mr. Obama said. “I trust in God, but God wants to see us help ourselves by putting people back to work.”

Considering B.O.’s jobs bill doesn’t put anyone back to work and does nothing to promote a job-creating business environment, I don’t see how the Almighty could support Chairman Zero’s plan.  But whatevs, pal.

At least his spokestool is on the same page as God.  Or not.

A few hours later, an Associated Press reporter questioned Carney at his daily briefing about the president’s choice of words.

“Isn’t it a bit much to bring God into the jobs debate?” the reporter asked.

Carney responded: “I believe that the phrase from the Bible is, ‘The Lord helps those who help themselves.’”

The only problem: Carney had the wrong source.

When the official transcript of the daily briefing arrived in reporters’ inboxes in the late afternoon, it offered this clarification at the top: “This common phrase does not appear in the Bible.”

You’ll have to forgive The One’s minions for not knowing Scripture very well.  They think their leader is God.

USA gives $20 million to Pakistan to show Sesame Street to “promote tolerance”

Dude.

Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch are nowhere in sight. But there’s Elmo. And new creatures too, like Baily, a kindly donkey who loves to sing, and Haseen O Jameel, a vain crocodile who lives at the bottom of a well.

Sesame Street is coming to Pakistan but not as generations of Americans know it.

The TV show has a new cast of local characters led by a vivacious 6-year-old girl named Rani who loves cricket and traditional Pakistani music. Her sidekick, Munna, is a 5-year-old boy obsessed with numbers and banging away on Pakistani bongo drums, or tabla.

The U.S. is bankrolling the initiative with $20 million, hoping it will improve education in a country where one-third of primary school-age children are not in class. Washington also hopes the program will increase tolerance at a time when the influence of radical views is growing.

“One of the key goals of the show in Pakistan is to increase tolerance toward groups like women and ethnic minorities,” said Larry Dolan, who was the head education officer for the U.S. Agency for International Development in Pakistan until very recently.

Hey, why not?  I mean, they’ll listen to Allah when it comes to blowing themselves and infidels up; but once they get a load of Elmo and Haseen the Crocodile telling them to respect everyone and not self-detonate, then these heretofore loyal-to-the-death jihadists will tell Allah to go pound sand.  “Sorry, God, but puppets have told us that you’re full of crap.”

Because while the fear of death is nonexistent as a deterrent to commit murder, the guilt of having saddened Baily the Talking Donkey is more than they can bear.  Brilliant, B.O.

Democrat strategist and MSNBC analyst: GOP likes Cain for being “a black man who knows his place”

To recap: Voting for Obama in 2008 proves you’re not racist.  Voting for Cain in 2012 proves you are.  Got it?

Details:

On Martin Bashir’s television program this afternoon, Democratic strategist and MSNBC analyst Karen Finney said that Republicans are supporting Herman Cain because of his race…

“One of the things about Herman Cain is, I think that he makes that white Republican base of the party feel okay, feel like they are not racist because they can like this guy,” Finney said. “I think he giving that base a free pass. And I think they like him because they think he’s a black man who knows his place. I know that’s harsh, but that’s how it sure seems to me.”

“Thank you for spelling that out,” Bashir responded.

Fortunately, this was on MSDNC, so this shameful bigotry was limited to only their viewers…both of them.

Defeated Democrat Congressman sues group who contributed to his loss

Al Gore set the precedent: If you lose, sue.  Details:

There’s nothing quite like a politician scorned.

When voters in Ohio’s 1st Congressional District threw Democrat Steve Driehaus out of office after only one term, he did not bow out gracefully.  No, he decided to get even.  So he did what anyone does in today’s culture: he sued somebody.

Charging that its activities contributed to his defeat and thus to his “loss of livelihood,” Driehaus is suing the Susan B. Anthony List, a group that supports pro-life candidates for Congress and which has been one of the leading and most effective organizations involved in the fight to cut off federal funding to Planned Parenthood.

What a jackwagon.

Let the arrogance and gall sink in for a second.  Driehaus is saying that because he lost an election, he had a “loss of livelihood”…as if he had a right to live off of the taxpayers’ dime!  Hey, he’d fit right in with the Occupy Wall Street losers, wouldn’t he?  With that kind of entitlement mentality, no wonder he’s a Democrat.

So why did the Susan B. Anthony List oppose Driehaus?

During the 2010 elections the Susan B. Anthony List engaged in a campaign to identify and call out a group of allegedly anti-abortion-rights members of Congress who provided the margin that allowed President Barack Obama’s reform of the nation’s healthcare system to get through the U.S. House of Representatives. The Susan B. Anthony List said their vote in favor of the law, which did not include any pro-life protections, amounted to a betrayal of their pro-life principles.

According to Driehaus, who was one of that group, what the Susan B. Anthony List said in its public communications amounted to a malicious lie that contributed to his defeat. …

The SBA List said that voting for ObamaCare was a vote against their pro-life principles.  How can this be a lie?  They saw a vote for ObamaCare without the Stupak Amendment as a vote against pro-life, and Driehaus did vote for ObamaCare.  So exactly where is the lie?

Anywho, at least a judge is tossing the case out of court with a guffaw and scorn.  Nah, just kidding:

…Amazingly, rather than laugh the suit out of court U.S. District Court judge Timothy S. Black, an Obama appointee, is allowing it to go forward.

Driehaus’s suit is breaking new legal ground and may already be having a very chilling effect on political speech. It goes directly at the heart of our First Amendment protections and criminalizes what is at least a difference of opinion. And it’s curious that the case has not received more attention from the national press.

What is equally curious, however, is why Judge Black has allowed the case to move forward and why he did not recuse himself from it since, as Barbara Hollingsworth reported Friday in The Washington Examiner, he apparently is the former president and director of the Planned Parenthood Association of Cincinnati.  As seeming conflicts of interest go this one is a real humdinger.

First Amendment?  Bueller?  Bueller?

So, an Obama appointee who used to be the director of Planned Parenthood of Cincinnati didn’t think there was a conflict of interest in hearing a case involving an organization who is opposed to PP’s mission?  A man who used to run the nation’s largest taxpayer-funded abortion mill organization is somehow totally objective when it comes to lawsuits against a group that was undoubtedly a thorn in his side?  Un-friggin’-believable!

I doubt any court above this one will uphold a ruling in favor of Driehaus, and I am certain that higher courts would take Black to the woodshed.  But how shameful is it that a loser sues a group for trying (with success) to get him defeated in an election by simply reporting his vote and not endorsing him for his vote?  Election results would be forever altered if courts allow this kind of shameful sore loserness to occur.

Senate FINALLY working on important legislation: tackling fake maple syrup

The Senate hasn’t proposed a budget in 900+ days.  How can they, when they’ve got far more pressing issues to address?

Six senators introduced legislation that would make selling fake maple syrup a felony offense leading to fines and up to five years in prison.

The Maple Agriculture Protection and Law Enforcement (MAPLE) Act is a response to what chief sponsor Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and others say is the increasing practice of cheating Vermont, Upstate New York and other maple syrup regions by selling inferior, fake syrup.

“I have been alarmed by the growing number of individuals and businesses claiming to sell genuine Vermont maple syrup when they are in fact selling an inferior product that is not maple syrup at all,” Leahy said Thursday. “This is fraud, plain and simple, and it undermines a key part of Vermont’s economy and reputation for quality that has been hard-earned through Vermonters’ hard work.”

He added that others in the syrup-producing regions of Maine, New York and other states also have been hurt. Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) are all co-sponsors.

Under current law, selling fake maple syrup is a misdemeanor offense.

Under the bill, S. 1742, selling fake maple syrup would be listed as an act of fraud that is seen as a felony offense, along with falsifying bank entries, mortgage transactions, loan applications and citizenship records, along with dozens of other activities.

“We need to make sure that those who intentionally deceive consumers get a trip to jail, not a slap on the wrist,” Leahy said. “Schemers should not easily be able to sully the seal of quality that is associated with genuine Vermont maple syrup.”

The bill specifically lists what qualifies as real maple syrup: a liquid food derived from heating tree sap or mixing water and maple sugar. In either case, not less than 66 percent of the weight of the product must be “soluble solids derived solely from the sap of a species of tree in the genus Acer.”

Of course, leave it to the Maine sisters to join this lunacy.

Biden: Opponents of jobs bill need to know what it’s like to be raped or robbed, or something

The Vice Plagiarist, pitching B.O.’s Porkulus II:

(CNSNews.com) – Vice President Joe Biden said that he wished opponents of President Barack Obama’s jobs act knew what it felt like to be robbed or raped, indicating that if they did, they would not oppose government spending on public jobs such as police officers.

“I wish these guys who thought it was temporary, I wish they had some notion of what it was like to be on the other side of a gun, or [to have] a 200-pound man standing over you, telling you to submit,” Biden told a crowd at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia on Tuesday, adding, “Folks, it matter, it matters.”

Um…OK.  I get it: B.O.’s jobs package would keep people from being raped and robbed, and if you oppose it, you deserve to be raped and robbed.  Thanks for the clarification, Joe.

And now, MSDNC hosts are thinking that the best way for the OWS movement to succeed in their goals is…to get gunned down by the cops or the national guard, Kent State style.  And to think that MSDNC has a ratings problem!

Biden: Pass Obama’s jobs bill or there will be more rapes, or something

Why are Republicans (plus the two Senate Dems who voted against Porkulus II) in favor of rape?  From The Weekly Standard:

“In 2008, when Flint had 265 sworn officers on their police force, there were 35 murders and 91 rapes in this city,” Biden said. “In 2010, when Flint had only 144 police officers, the murder rate climbed to 65 and rapes–just to pick two categories–climbed to 229. In 2011, you now only have 125 shields. God only knows what the numbers will be this year for Flint if we don’t rectify it.”

The vice president also seemed to suggest that the Obama administration’s first stimulus is the reason rapes and murders were not even higher in 2010 and 2011.” And God only knows what that number would have been had we not been able to get a little bit of help,” Biden said.

Ho. Ly. Shiite.

So building more roads, bridges, and pork projects, plus raising taxes on millionaires, will…um…prevent rapes in Flint, Michigan?  Seriously?  That’s the greyhound you’re betting on, champ?

Republicans blocking Obama’s jobs bill

Wait, did I say Republicans?  My bad:

Democratic leaders in the Senate are scrambling to avoid defections on President Obama’s jobs package, which appears headed for defeat on Tuesday.

A lack of Democratic unity on the president’s bill would be embarrassing for the White House, which has been scolding House Republicans for refusing to vote on the measure.

Democrats who will vote no or are leaning no include Sens. Joe Manchin (W.Va.), Jon Tester (Mont.) and Ben Nelson (Neb.), who all hail from red states and are up for reelection next year.

Of course, this inconvenient fact won’t keep B.O. or his minions from blaming Republicans rather than their own party.  But the left is impervious to facts and truth, so this is no surprise.

UPDATED: Administration learns from Solyndra scandal

UPDATES BELOW.

Learns nothing, that is.  Here we go again:

The Energy Department on Wednesday approved two loan guarantees worth more than $1 billion for solar energy projects in Nevada and Arizona, two days before the expiration date of a program that has become a rallying cry for Republican critics of the Obama administration’s green energy program.

Energy Secretary Steven Chu said the department has completed a $737 million loan guarantee to Tonopah Solar Energy for a 110 megawatt solar tower on federal land near Tonopah, Nev., and a $337 million guarantee for Mesquite Solar 1 to develop a 150 megawatt solar plant near Phoenix.

The loans were approved under the same program that paid for a $528 million loan to Solyndra Inc., a California solar panel maker that went bankrupt after receiving the money and laid off 1,100 workers. Solyndra is under investigation by the FBI and is the focal point of House hearings on the program.

Corruption.  Incompetence.  Crony capitalism.  2012 can’t get here soon enough.

UPDATE (09/29/2011 – 11:00 AM EST): As Kanaka Girl points out in the comments, the aforementioned Tonopah Solar Energy company getting $737 million in our money to fund 45 jobs (a bargain at $16.3+ million per job) has connections with Nancy Pelosi’s brother-in-law.  Details here.  Yep, Ron Pelosi is executive director of Pacific Corporate Group, an “investment partner” with Tonopah’s parent company SolarReserve.  But hey, I’m sure this is just another big ol’ coinkidink and not a case of the crony capitalism we’ve come to expect from the Chicagoland Thug-in-Chief.

Dem NC governor: Why don’t we suspend the Constitution so we can get stuff done?

Daily Caller has the story, as well as the audio.  Excerpt:

f it was a joke, North Carolina Democratic Governor Bev Perdue needs to polish her delivery.

Newly released audio contradicts the claims of Perdue’s press team that her call Tuesday for suspending Congressional election was a joke or hyperbole. In the recording, her tone is matter-of-fact and her comments are part of a serious speech.

“Listen to the Governor’s words: She wasn’t joking at all,” North Carolina GOP spokesman Rob Lockwood told The Daily Caller. “The congressional Democrats are wildly unpopular in North Carolina, so she may have been trying to invent a solution to save their jobs from public accountability.”

“If it was a joke, what was the set-up?,” Lockwood adds. “What was the punch-line? Where was the pause for laughter? It took them three hours to say it was a ‘joke,’ but when that flopped it became ‘hyperbole.’ We’ll just call it an unconstitutionally bad idea.”

The spin from the left and the MSM (pardon the redundancy) is that the guv was “just kidding”.  Seriously, the humor-impaired left is suddenly in tune with what is funny and what isn’t, and what is intended to be humor and what isn’t?  Anywho, listen to the audio and judge for yourself.

I’m sure the goob(ernor) is worried mightily about her own hide and that of her fellow NC Democrats.  Dems took a HUGE pounding in NC in 2010, and the state legislature turned red for the first time since Reconstruction.  The new legislature is going to redraw districts in very red ways, too.

I’m not worried about elections being suspended because some leftist hayseed thinks they should be.  No, this is just another example in an already-long list of them of leftists holding their own perceived intellect in such a delusional high regard and the intellect of the individual voter in such condescendingly low regard.  Leftists know that their ways aren’t going to be embraced by Normal America, especially in the South, so they need to remove barriers to their socialist utopia…even/especially if the barriers are erected by the “great unwashed”.

Feds used taxpayer dollars to buy and sell illegal weapons to Mexican drug lords in “Operation Fast & Furious”

Oh, I’m furious, no doubt.  New details:

Not only did U.S. officials approve, allow and assist in the sale of more than 2,000 guns to the Sinaloa cartel — the federal government used taxpayer money to buy semi-automatic weapons, sold them to criminals and then watched as the guns disappeared.

This disclosure, revealed in documents obtained by Fox News, could undermine the Department of Justice’s previous defense that Operation Fast and Furious was a “botched” operation where agents simply “lost track” of weapons as they were transferred from one illegal buyer to another. Instead, it heightens the culpability of the federal government as Mexico, according to sources, has opened two criminal investigations into the operation that flooded their country with illegal weapons.

So what was Operation Fast and Furious?

Operation Fast and Furious began in October 2009. In it, federal agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives encouraged gun stores to sell weapons to an arms smuggling gang, then watched as the guns crossed the border and were used in crimes. Each month, the agency allowed hundreds of guns to go South, despite opposition from some agents.

All told, the gang spent more than $1.25 million for the illegal guns.

In June 2010, however, the ATF dramatically upped the ante, making the U.S. government the actual “seller” of guns.

According to documents obtained by Fox News, Agent John Dodson was ordered to buy six semi-automatic Draco pistols — two of those were purchased at the Lone Wolf gun store in Peoria, Ariz. An unusual sale, Dodson was sent to the store with a letter of approval from David Voth, an ATF group supervisor.

Dodson then sold the weapons to known illegal buyers, while fellow agents watched from their cars nearby.

This was not a “buy-bust” or a sting operation, where police sell to a buyer and then arrest them immediately afterward. In this case, agents were “ordered” to let the sale go through and follow the weapons to a stash house.

According to sources directly involved in the case, Dodson felt strongly that the weapons should not be abandoned and the stash house should remain under 24-hour surveillance. However, Voth disagreed and ordered the surveillance team to return to the office. Dodson refused, and for six days in the desert heat kept the house under watch, defying direct orders from Voth.

A week later, a second vehicle showed up to transfer the weapons. Dodson called for an interdiction team to move in, make the arrest and seize the weapons. Voth refused and the guns disappeared with no surveillance.

David Voth and a slew of others within the administration should be fired over this.  With the exception of FNC, the rest of the MSM is quieter than MSNBC’s prime time coverage of the Solyndra scandal.

Gore: Global “warming” skeptics are like racists, or something

In the beginning (easy, liberals, I’m not reading from Genesis), Gore dismissed global “warming” skeptics as “mere outliers”.  You know, we were so few that it wasn’t even worth acknowledging.

Then, we were considered on par with Truthers, the “9/11 was an inside job” nutbars: crazy, barely worth acknowledging, and whatever you do, don’t encourage them to talk about their lunacy.

But with more and more stories coming forward about doctored climate data, disenchanted scientists openly questioning the global “warming” alarmists’ methodologies, and hidden results, the climate Chicken Littles are now growing increasingly frightened that the world may not believe their eco-catastrophe bullshiite anymore.  And for once, they’re right.  So, these scoundrels have fallen to their lowest level yet: accuse proper-thinking people of racist (or racist-like) behavior.  Details:

One day climate change skeptics will be seen in the same negative light as  racists, at least so says former Vice President Al Gore.

In an interview with former advertising executive and Climate Reality Project  collaborator Alex Bogusky broadcasted on UStream on Friday, Gore explained that in order for  climate change alarmists to succeed, they must “win the conversation” against  those who deny there is a crisis. (RELATED:  Bill McKibben: Global warming to blame for Hurricane Irene)

“I remember, again going back to my early years in the South, when the Civil  Rights revolution was unfolding, there were two things that really made an  impression on me,” Gore said. “My generation watched Bull Connor turning the  hose on civil rights demonstrators and we went, ‘Whoa! How gross and evil is  that?’ My generation asked old people, ‘Explain to me again why it is okay to  discriminate against people because their skin color is different?’ And when  they couldn’t really answer that question with integrity, the change really  started.”

The former vice president recalled how society succeeded in marginalizing  racists and said climate change skeptics must be defeated in the same  manner.

“Secondly, back to this phrase ‘win the conversation,’” he continued. “There  came a time when friends or people you work with or people you were in clubs  with — you’re much younger than me so you didn’t have to go through this  personally — but there came a time when racist comments would come up in the  course of the conversation and in years past they were just natural. Then there  came a time when people would say, ‘Hey, man why do you talk that way, I mean  that is wrong. I don’t go for that so don’t talk that way around me. I just  don’t believe that.’ That happened in millions of conversations and slowly the  conversation was won.”

“We have to win the conversation on climate,” Gore added. …

Gore reminds me of the guy who is talking to a foreigner that doesn’t understand English: “If I just scream my English in a louder voice, then this guy will understand me!”  He is so desperate to keep his junk science charade going that he is getting louder, more shrill, and more frantic.  Unfortunately for Gore and his ilk, he’s not “winning the conversation” anymore.

It may not rank as the most compelling reason to curb greenhouse gases, but reducing our emissions might just save humanity from a pre-emptive alien attack, scientists claim.

Watching from afar, extraterrestrial beings might view changes in Earth’s atmosphere as symptomatic of a civilisation growing out of control – and take drastic action to keep us from becoming a more serious threat, the researchers explain.

This highly speculative scenario is one of several described by a Nasa-affiliated scientist and colleagues at Pennsylvania State University that, while considered unlikely, they say could play out were humans and alien life to make contact at some point in the future.

Shawn Domagal-Goldman of Nasa’s Planetary Science Division and his colleagues compiled a list of plausible (“plausible”? Seriously? – CL) outcomes that could unfold in the aftermath of a close encounter, to help humanity “prepare for actual contact”.

So that’s what prompted Falling Skies!  The aliens have been watching us since the dinosaur days, and while Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Chernobyl, and Three Mile Island weren’t enough to prompt an invasion, the planet’s temperature inching up a nanodegree would be way more than they could take!  But hey, if there’s a silver lining here, it would be that NYT’s econorube Paul Krugman would have his dream of “alien invasion + Keynesian economics = cured economy” come true.

Maybe NASA should just stick to what they do best: Muslim outreach.

Obama: I kinda remind me of Abe Lincoln. Or MLK. Take your pick.

To quote my man Otis Day from Animal House: “Don’t know much about history.”  Excerpt #1:

“Democracy is always a messy business in a big country like this,” Obama responded. “When you listen to what the federalists said about the anti-federalists … those guys were tough. Lincoln, they used to talk about him almost as bad as they talk about me.”

Yeah, because presiding over a civil war is almost identical to what B.O. faces today. Or something.

Excerpt #2:

At least it wasn’t Jesus.

At a small, exclusive New York City fundraiser Thursday night featuring the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, Obama compared himself and his agenda to that of Martin Luther King Jr.

And now that King has his own memorial on the Mall I think that we forget when he was alive there was nobody who was more vilified, nobody who was more controversial, nobody who was more despairing at times. There was a decade that followed the great successes of Birmingham and Selma in which he was just struggling, fighting the good fight, and scorned, and many folks angry. But what he understood, what kept him going, was that the arc of moral universe is long but it bends towards justice. But it doesn’t bend on its own. It bends because all of us are putting our hand on the arc and we are bending it in that direction. And it takes time. And it’s hard work. And there are frustrations.

Dr. King died by a racist’s bullet.  Oprompter got elected by a…um, racist?…country.  I guess B.O. is wondering how come he doesn’t have his own memorial yet?

Narcissism: it’s what’s for dinner.

Obama’s Ag Secretary: Sharp rise in food stamps is awesome, because it’s creating jobs!

Economic illiteracy is pandemic in the administration.  But darn it, Vilsack has his talking points and he ain’t deviating from them!  Observe:

Every $1 in food stamps creates $1.84 in the economy? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, dude?  Using that pretzel logic, then, shouldn’t everyone ask for food stamps in order to push unemployment through the cellar?

The welfare state has expanded massively under Oba-Mao, and it is most certainly by design.  They’ve been telling us that food stamps and unemployment benefits are huge stimulators of the economy, specifically in job creation, yet unemployment remains near 10% (closer to 20% when you count those who have abandoned looking for work or full-timers who have resorted to become part-timers).  It’s a lie, and not a very believable one, too.

Obama’s shameful media spectacle at Dover

I think this blog post title at Ace’s joint sums it up best:

Families Of The Fallen: We Don’t Want Any Media Coverage Of Our Loved Ones Return To Dover.

White House To Families: We Don’t Care What You Want.

Read the post and you’ll see what it’s all about.  Drew’s conclusion is well put:

When it comes to honoring our heroes, I’d like to be able to give any President, Obama included, the benefit of the doubt that they care more about doing the right thing by the fallen and their families (even if I might disagree with their choices). Obama’s decision to allow this solemn and private moment to become a political spectacle shows he simply is doesn’t deserve that consideration.

January 20, 2013 can’t come soon enough.

Amen.

Obama laments “big money flooding the airwaves” as he rakes in big money to be used to flood the airwaves

Irony: it’s not just for breakfast anymore.  From the Washington Times:

Mr. Obama met separately with 100 of his most exclusive donors, each of whom forked over $35,800 per person to break bread with the birthday boy. Mr. Obama, who had added $3,938,093,118,800 to the national debt as of his birthday, told his rich friends that the government needs to spend more on everything from “wind turbine and electric cars” to “cures for cancer.”

Without any irony, he railed against “big money flooding the airwaves and slash-and-burn politics, sometimes I think that core belief in what is possible here in America gets lost.” Of course, Mr. Obama plans to flood those airwaves with $1 billion in campaign-funded commercials suggesting he is fighting for the average Joe.

“Fighting for the average Joe”.  Because the average Joe drops nearly $36k to gladhand with PresBo.

Reputed pro-troops president: Cut defense, leave food stamps alone

A president’s #1 job is to keep the country safe.  Someone tell that to Oprompter, who seems to think that his #1 job is to keep Americans enslaved (and get more Americans onto the dole):

“I think what’s absolutely true is that core commitments that we make to the most vulnerable have to be maintained,” Obama said. “A lot of the spending cuts that we’re making should be around areas like defense spending as opposed to food stamps.”

Remember when Newt Gingrich said that Obaby was becoming a “food stamp president” and was lambasted for it?  Well, B.O. just confirmed what Gingrich said.  I’m sure David Gregory will be calling Newt to apologize any day now…right?

New DHS “informational” video portrays white middle class Americans as potential terror threats

Janet “Nappy” Napolitano is our guard dog.  God help us.  Excerpt:

A new promotional video released by the Department of Homeland Security characterizes white middle class Americans as the most likely terrorists, as Big Sis continues its relentless drive to cement the myth that mad bombers are hiding around every corner, when in reality Americans are just as likely to be killed by lightning strikes or peanut allergies.

Despite encouraging viewers not to pay attention to a person’s race in determining whether or not they may be a terrorist, almost all of the scenarios in the clip proceed to portray white people as the most likely terrorists. Bizarrely, nearly every single one of the “patriotic” Americans who reports on their fellow citizen is either black, Asian or Arab. Imagine if the video had portrayed every terrorist as an Arab and every patriotic snoop as white, there’d be an outcry and rightly so, but this strange reversal must have been deliberate on the part of the DHS, but why? Is this merely political correctness taken to the extreme or is something deeper at work?

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the DHS’ own internal documents list predominantly white conservative groups as the most likely terrorists, such as Ron Paul supporters, gun owners, gold bullion enthusiasts, and a myriad of other comparatively banal political interests that are largely the domain of white middle class Americans.

Video at link.

I can see why she’d be focused on rednecks from Possum Hump, TN.  I mean, they practically fit the terrorist profile to a tee:

Obama’s spokesman: Leadership is letting Congress come up with a plan, NOT coming up with your own plan!

From NRO:

White House press secretary Jay Carney argues, with a straight face, that leadership means waiting for House and Senate negotiators to come up with a plan:

TAPPER: OK. The House is passing something that many observers feel would never pass the Senate and the president has said he would veto. The Senate is passing — the McConnell-Reid plan, it’s not clear that that could pass the House. The Gang of Seven plan, it’s not clear that that could pass the House. Would this not be an opportune time for a president to lead and say, this —

CARNEY: Leadership is not proposing a plan for the sake of having it voted up or down, and likely voted down because it is — look, you know how this town works and how Congress works. If an individual, whether Democrat or Republican leader, steps forward and says, this is my plan and solely my plan, it makes it a lot harder for that plan to be the basis for a bipartisan compromise. The way to reach a bipartisan compromise is in bipartisan negotiations where a plan emerges that is the product of that negotiation and is supported by Republicans and Democrats and then presented. Otherwise, your chances of actually achieving something diminish greatly.

“Leadership”, redefined.

The man-child in the White House has no leadership skills at all, unless you accept Carney’s mutilation of Merriam-Webster.
