Job losses continue to pile up under Obamarx.  CNN’s take on the latest job report?

Here’s a piece of the “good news” within the article:

Meanwhile, the number of people requesting continued jobless benefits rose to a record high, indicating that the labor market remains weak.

The government said continuing claims rose to 6,883,000 in the week ended June 27, the most recent data available.

That’s an increase of 159,000 from the previous week’s revised total of 6,724,000 and was the highest reading since the Labor Department began keeping records in 1967.

So what kind of a headline did Obama’s predecessor get from CNN?

Hopenchange’s call for “transparency” hasn’t exactly materialized as promised, has it?  It’s as if he lied about it or something.

Carol Browner, former Clinton administration EPA head and current Obama White House climate czar, instructed auto industry execs “to put nothing in writing, ever” regarding secret negotiations she orchestrated regarding a deal to increase federal Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards.

Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-WI, is demanding a congressional investigation of Browner’s conduct in the CAFE talks, saying in a letter to Rep. Henry Waxman, D-CA, that Browner “intended to leave little or no documentation of the deliberations that lead to stringent new CAFE standards.”

Federal law requires officials to preserve documents concerning significant policy decisions, so instructing participants in a policy negotation concerning a major federal policy change could be viewed as a criminal act.

“If I wanted the mouth-breathing MSM-fed sheeple of this country to know what kind of Nazi-like power grabs were going on in this administration, I would have given Chris Matthews a thrill up his leg by calling him up and filling him in,” said Browner.  “You know, so he could let both of his viewers know what their Messiah was up to?  Instead, I’m trying to keep this on the down-low, if you smell what I’m cookin’.”

OK, I probably made up that last paragraph.  Fake but accurate…right, Dan Rather?

She should resign and/or be prosecuted.  We don’t need “czars” actively encouraging people to keep the public in the dark on matters that are clearly specified in federal law are to be public information.  Otherwise, we might get this crazy idea that this administration is full of a bunch of big government authoritarian statists or something!

What’s the over/under on how long it will take this soon-to-be-former AP writer to lose his job?  Excerpt:

The floated proposals include increasing taxes on alcohol, which could raise $62 billion over the next decade, and a new tax on sugary drinks such as soda, which could raise $52 billion. …

Obama made a firm tax pledge during the presidential campaign, repeating it numerous times in the weeks and months leading up to Election Day: no tax increases for individuals making less than $200,000 a year or couples making less than $250,000.

“Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes,” Obama told a crowd in Dover, N.H., last year.

How this one escaped the passing of the Kool-Aid cup is beyond me.

“It appears that the Republican Party leadership in the Congress has made a decision that they want to deny President Obama success, which means, in my mind, they are rooting against the country, as well,” the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee chairman told WAMU radio host Diane Rehm on Tuesday morning, promoting his new book, “The Waxman Report.”  (I wonder if his new book sheds any light on how he got those manhole-sized nostrils? – Ed.)

Oh, I get it.  Merely opposing a politician’s ideas or policies constitutes treason?

Well, then, let’s round up all of the Democrats in the House and Senate that served from 2001 through January 2009 and ship them off to the federal pen.  After all, all these cretins did during those years was fight the president, which, by their “logic”, means they were “rooting against the country”.  Sure, they were telling us (or, in the case of the Hilldawg, were shrieking loudly) that they would not allow their disagreements with Bush to be portrayed as unpatriotic.  But apparently, the whole “dissent <> unpatriotic” thingy only applies when the president is a Republican.

Of course, this analogy suffers on several levels, including intellect and taste.  World War II was not a debate over economic theories and governing philosophies, or even a difference of opinion on scientific hypotheses.  The Nazis had more mundane concerns, like world domination and the extermination of the Jews.  While Winston Churchill had warned about the Nazis for years and had been shunned for it by the British establishment as a war-monger, he had the political will to do something about the Nazis because the Nazis had begun attacking France and Great Britain.  With guns, bombs, and real death, too, and not just hyperbole about a Waterworld future.

When advocates resort to this kind of hyperbole, it’s usually due to a lack of factual support to their arguments.  Invoking the Nazis is about as hyperbolic as it gets.  What’s next, the aliens from Independence Day?  (”In the words of my generation: ‘Up yours!’” – Ed.)

Since the planet has cooled every year since 2001, and since it hasn’t ever gotten hotter than 1998 (which is when global “warming” cultists tell us that Hell was basically here on Earth), at what point can we stop putting credence in this junk science fad?

Sure he will…when monkeys fly out of his squeakhole.  I mean, just last week, Uhhhh-bama was telling us how awesome Cali’s economy has been and how the rest of the country should emulate it.

See, while his gaffe-tastic VP admits that they didn’t have a firm grasp on economic reality when they passed the Generational Theft Act (or, if you prefer, the “stimulus” bill), they are intent on pushing us into a debt explosion that will likely double long-term interest rates and cause another recession.  Kevin Hassett at Bloomberg thinks that Californiastan’s lesson will derail Oprompter’s socialist plans, but I disagree.  After all, leftists don’t let facts and reality get in the way of their warped worldview. But here’s an excerpt from Hassett that hits the nail on the head:

The Obama administration has no shame, and is willing to abandon reason altogether to achieve its short-term political goals. Ronald Reagan ran up big deficits in part because he believed that his tax cuts would produce economic growth, and ultimately pay for themselves. He may well have been excessively optimistic about the merits of tax cuts, but at least he had a story.

Obama has no story. Nobody believes that his unprecedented expansion of the welfare state will lead to enough economic growth. Nobody believes that it will pay for itself. Everyone understands that higher spending today begets higher spending tomorrow. That means that his economic strategy simply doesn’t add up.

Oh, it “adds up”, alright.  It adds up to be the most irresponsible and damaging blow to capitalism possible.  One wonders if that’s not the left’s true intent.

I thank God that I live in a country that allows me the freedom (for now, anyway) to run a blog that says things critical of the power structure and the people who run it.  I therefore avail myself of the opportunity to say the following (and I apologize to those that may be offended by this, but I’m speaking from the heart):

For the first time in my life, I don’t know how proud I am of my country.

See, I don’t recognize this country I currently inhabit.  Not anymore.  It doesn’t have anything to do with who this country elected, at least not in and of itself.  After all, I was disgusted when Bill Clinton was elected and re-elected, but I just chalked it up in 1992 to the electorate being tired of “Read My Lips” and such, and in the case of 1996, the GOP fielding such a weak national candidate.  But say what you will about Bubba (and believe me, I say quite a bit), but even that philandering disaster didn’t pull the country full bore to the left.

But in the case of 2008, we had a candidate who had no executive experience of any sort and who had spent every year since he ran for the U.S. Senate prepping himself for his first executive gig…which just so happened to be leader of the free world.  He has spent a lifetime associated with racists and radicals, yet by simply saying “No, that’s not who I am”, the ignorant masses and their snake charmers in the MSM went along with it.  His record indicated that he was very much a leftist ideologue who was more interested in foisting his failed ideology on this country irrespective of the damage it would do.  Leftists have no use for facts, and Oprompter is no different.

And while the public is slowly coming around, I still have no faith in my countrymen.  You see, poll after poll shows that the public is overwhelmingly against The One’s policies: government takeover of private enterprise, endless bailouts, attacking the Second Amendment, closing Gitmo, raising taxes, cap-and-tax, socialized medicine, etc.  Yet while these same people are against these policies, they continue to give the American Idol president decent approval ratings?  “I’m against all these things, big time!  Hmm?  What do I think about the president?  I think he’s great!  What?  What do you mean, ‘He supports these policies’?  He does?  Well…I still like him!  He looks good on TV! ”

More people can tell you who won American Idol than who their two U.S. Senators are or who the vice president is.  I used to think the presidency was not a popularity contest, and yes, I even thought that when Bubba was winning.  But not anymore.  When a pseudo-Christian Marxist ascends to the highest office by charming the pants off of the concubine public, it’s pretty clear that the office is nothing more than a popularity contest.  Nothing more.

Frankly, if during a presidential campaign, the First Lady-to-be can say that she’s just now, for the first time in her life, proud of her country and still see her hubby get elected, then I don’t expect much static for having the opposite sentiment: for the first time in my entire life, I am not proud of my country.

In addition to the president and that recently patriotized wife of his, there are other signs that my countrymen are not what they once were.  One is the gradual move away from the country’s deep Christian roots (and if you are an atheist, then feel free not to comment on this aspect of the country).  When a man professes his Christianity, then says he supports abortion rights, gay marriage, and a host of other abominations to the faith to which he supposedly adheres, or if that man is willing to support candidates who similarly bastardize the faith, that man insults and mocks God and His true believers.

Another is the emerging tendency of the sheeple’s reliance on screwing the producers in order to reward the non-producers.  Note to self: order Atlas Shrugged.  Yet another is the short attention span that this country has.  Remember after 9/11 (for those of you on the left, feel free to Google that in case it doesn’t ring a bell) when the president told us that this would take years to address?  Well, apparently a lot of people don’t recall that assessment at all.  They’re too busy keeping up on the latest with Michael Jackson’s death.  The sacrifice and patience that we saw in the WWII generation appear to be deader than Jacko himself.

During the Bush 43 terms, liberals said they detested their country because of who their president was.  I thought it was rather lame of them to base their patriotism on who the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue happened to be at the moment.  So how is my current sentiment different than theirs was at the time?  Honestly, in some ways, it may have not been too different.  But I would argue that the key difference was this: liberals were mad at their country over the last eight years because it wasn’t morally bankrupt enough for their liking, while I am mad at my country now because it is too morally bankrupt for my liking.  Liberals are devoid of morals, thus their affection (at the time) for Billary and now for Obabykiller.  Sorry, but I don’t roll that way.

I’m sorry, my friends, but in light of the above, I no longer recognize the America that has been described in our founding documents or in our history books.  Madison, Jefferson, et al are rolling over in their graves.  I see no signs whatsoever that the country will return itself to its liberty-based or God-based roots.

I understand that many, if not most, of you will feel differently, and that’s OK.  I do not think you’re stupid for doing so.  But as for me, until further notice, July Fourth is just another hot, muggy summer day.

While promoting his new cap-and-trade energy tax bill, which passed the U.S. House last week, President Obama revealed in a White House address on Monday his model for the nation’s economy – California. “In the late 1970s, the state of California enacted tougher energy-efficiency policies,” Obama said, noting that the state and its residents use less energy today per capita than the national average. “Think about that,” he said, “California producing jobs, their economy keeping pace with the rest of the country and yet they’ve been able to maintain their energy usage in a much lower level than the rest of the country.”

Uh…what?  Californiastan “producing jobs”?  Their “economy keeping pace with the rest of the country”?  Is he serious?

And just how has Cali “been able to maintain their energy usage in a much lower level than the rest of the country”?

Between 2000 and 2007, before the current recession, the state shed nearly 21 percent of its manufacturing jobs, driving down its industrial electrical consumption by 21 percent. California’s industrial users pay electric rates twice as high as their Midwestern counterparts – which helps explain why so much heavy industry has fled the state. In addition to alienating its industry, California has also curbed energy use through exorbitant residential electric rates (50 percent higher than the national average) and massive net out-migration. Between 2005 and 2007, 2.14 million Californians moved to other states, while only 1.44 million people from elsewhere moved to the Golden State, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Don’t be surprised when the 2010 Census finds even more people leaving to escape California’s 11.5 percent unemployment. And, as jobs and residents fled California, its tax revenues have declined, while its politicians went on a spending binge, creating a severe budget crisis.

“Hey, let’s emulate a state that is about to go bankrupt, that has resorted to paying with IOU’s, whose bond rating is trashed, that has endured rolling blackouts, that has unemployment at 11.5% (nearly two full points higher than the rest of the country), and that is financially stupid at all levels!”

We’re in good, capable hands with our nation’s energy infrastructure, folks.  For those of you on the left, the prior sentence was sarcasm.

No doubt many of you are aware of the case in New Haven, CT, where a firefighter exam’s results were tossed out because no black firemen passed the test.  The white firefighters who passed sued, arguing that they were discriminated against because of their race.  It’s obvious to anyone with half a brain that they were right.  So of course, the liberal appeals court told them to stick it up their white chutes (or whatever the legalese equivalent of that is).  SCOTUS nominee Sonia Sotomayor ruled against the firefighters and in favor of racism.

Today, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the liberal court, on a predictable 5-4 ruling, with the four liberal justices naturally and reflexively siding with racism.

Exit question: Does this put a dent in Sotomayor’s claim that by virtue of her being a “wise Latina woman”, she will reach “better conclusions” than non-Latin males?

It seems like only yesterday that Oprompter said that the U.S. shouldn’t meddle in other countries’ affairs, especially Iran.

Well, it may have been yesterday.  But like his other promises, they come with expiration dates.  When it’s a leftist tinpot dictator in Honduras, suddenly meddling on behalf of said tinpot dictator is en vogue.

When he’s not busy slandering troops, insulting soldiers’ intellect, cracking jokes on a war hero’s age, or dreaming of killing the president, John F’ing Kerry (who is rumored to have served in Vietnam) likes to spend his time longing for the death and disappearance of a state’s governor.  Details:

Under the headline “Before Golf, Bush Decries Latest Deaths in Mideast,” staff writer Mike Allen described Bush as he “sprang from his golf cart at 6:15 a.m. and said he was distressed to hear about the latest suicide bombers in Israel.”

“Bush, wearing khakis and a knit shirt, was holding a driver in his gloved left hand,” Allen wrote.

“However incongruous the setting, the president plunged ahead,” Allen wrote.

A search of news reports on Nexis revealed that photographers, but not reporters have access to Obama when he is on the links. But his outings have been covered, including by The Washington Post on June 9, 2009, in an article with the headline “Just the Sport for A Leader Most Driven.”

“What’s the deal? Why golf?” Poststaff writer Richard Leiby wrote. “The attraction seems to be simple. It’s a great escape; the game demands such attention that nothing else matters. It’s time spent with friends, an unhurried afternoon in loose clothing (shorts seem to be Obama’s preference).”

Leiby continued, “To some, Obama’s frequent outings reflect a cool self-confidence.”

Leiby even quoted a sports psychologist who said Obama seemed able to play golf despite the grim reports by the media about the wars and the economy.

So the comPostgot its boxers in a bunch when Bush played golf with a war on one front (for those of you on the left, that would be Afghanistan, allegedly the war you actually supported this decade) and a teetering economy.  Yet now that Uhhh-bama golfs with a war on two fronts, the economy mired in a deep recession, Iran and North Korea smoldering hot, and the country on the precipice of bankruptcy, golf for da prez is suddenly cool.  Got it.  Thanks for the clarification.

I just had a flashback to “My Cousin Vinny” where Gambini says “Everything that guy just said was bull$h#t.  Thank you.”  Here is a link to the analysis, which you must read.  Excerpt:

Bruce Kesler points out that — in traditional NYT/CBS fashion — the sample is badly skewed:

According to the actual poll data, of the 73% of respondents who said they voted in 2008 only 34% voted for McCain and 66% for Obama. The actual vote was 48% McCain.

This is a good example of why reading a poll is as much art as science, because the first problem is the percentage who say they voted in the 2008 election. In reality, no more than 62% of eligible voters cast ballots last year. Accordingly, the poll has sampled a lot of adults who were ineligible to vote… or, as often happens, respondents lied about voting. In such cases, the lie tends to skew in favor of the winner.

Fortunately, at least for the time being, it looks like Oprompter doesn’t have the votes to pass that socialist piece of garbage down our throats.  But that may change after the ABC infomercial runs (without rebuttals, paid or otherwise).
